WH 40K S.O.B. questions

Ok so I’ve finally dragged out the giant pile of metal that makes up my Sisters of Battle collection to paint. Chose a chapter and color range, going with Blood Rose chapter. Then at this point, I ram head first into the wall of \"don\'t know jack about 40K\". What I need is suggestions on what a 2K point army should be made up of, as I think 2K is the standard size army. I have access to most of the models listed as Witch hunter on the GW website.

Hmm, well, as it\'s now 5th edition, plenty of troops choices would be a good start. What models do you have?

As for the points value, it varies as to what\'s the standard tournament total. For the Grand Tournament in the UK it\'s 1500 pts.

Probably easier to say what i don\'t have. Out of the witch hunter catalog i don\'t have the chimera, land raider, imperial stormtroopers, Exorcist, callidus assassin, calexus assassin, vindicare assassin and evorsor assassins.

Everything else i have and some, like the flagellants, battle squads, repentia and seraphim, i have several sets.

Right, well, that clears that up a bit. As you don\'t have stormtroopers Battle Sisters are your only troops option. If you have rhino transports I\'d suggest a couple of squads in those, maybe more. I\'ve never played S.O.B. but a lot of the army lists I\'ve seen tend to use them. You\'ll be wanting more than 2 troops squads, though. A couple of seraphim squads are pretty much a compulsory choice. Who doesn\'t love flying nuns with guns? Give them inferno pistols, too.

You\'ll need some tank-busting stuff, so a few melta guns dotted around the list are useful, as are evisorators. You\'ll probably have to wait for someone with more experience of them to give you better advice.

Well if you don\'t have an excorcist then get one! They are armed with one of the best weapons in the game.

Otherwise what Roger said holds, the latest edition seems to be far more objective based and whilst any unit can contest an objective only troops can hold them. Sisters squads of about ten are a good bet as you can put them in a rhino and get them to where they need to be. It doesn\'t have to be their rhino any more either, they can use anyones (on their side obviously). If numbers start getting low the faith points can help to keep them in the game and unless your opponent can wipe them out completely they count as scoring down to the last nun. Vet superiors are a must as you need as many faith points as you can get hold of.

I\'ve been playing Sisters of Battle (badly)for about 5 years now and in 5th edition they really can hand out some damage.

Must haves:
Cannoness with Celestion Bodyguard
Troops
Stormtroopers
Retribution Squad 4 Melta Guns Plus Veteran Sister mounted in an Immolator.
Seraphim.
Exorcist.

But You really want to think about looking at Forgeworld Retributors 70 points for a rhino with Storm Bolter and Heavy Flamer.

Faith Points They can really pull your ass out of a sling. :D

Drop me an email if you want to discuss further.

Sisters are really powerful in 5th edition.

i\'d say 1.5k is more the standard size for 40k games, but 2k is nice on a big board.

In 5th you\'ll generally need alot of sister squads (troops) for objective holding, each should contain a vet sister sup w/book of st lucius. (the book is now the best 5pt item in the whole game and essential to each squad).

In 2k i\'d suggest at least 2 exorcists and maybe a retrib squad.

Forget about Engines, people dont rate them.

Putting an inquisitor in is sometimes nice to get access to assassins.
