Whale in the Thames

that\'s one brave whale, and last time I saw the thames, I wouldn\'t have exactly called it \"fresh\" water

Britain\'s waterways are improving year on year now all the heavy industry is gone. God bless free trade! lol

We get Salmon going through our city centre in Cardiff. Magical.

Wow thats pretty cool, It happens in the US all the time a whale swims up river..I even think a Great white shark did it last year somewhere on the west coast.

It was probably chasing some food and didnt realize it was going up river.

Ah, but fresh water is exactly what the whale is looking for, I expect. Sharks look for fresh water, because; fresh water kills the parasites that attach themselves to skin and gills. Perhaps that\'s why whales seek out fresh water from time to time.

On the news it was said that in one day or so, he might die because the water level will be too low. Kind of strange, trying to save one whale here, while Japanese are killing them by the dozen... :~(

We get that every once in a while here in California. A whale will swim WAY up the American river to Sacramento. About 80 miles inland.

happened in Bridlington (yorkshire) once but was a fully grown wright whale (i think) was about 40 metres or something it was huge. beached itself and lived for about 3 days. kept taking it out to see but kept returning. (fishermen say whales come ashore to die and when they do wont return to die at sea. Saddest thing i ever saw was looking into her eye when she was still alive

This is where I show my nerdish tendencies. I bet it was nowhere near 40m. Maybe 40ft. Not even a Blue Whale grows to 40m, unless it\'s a freak. I\'m an aquatic mammalian nerd lol

Every few years a dead whale will wash up on the beach around the San Francisco bay. The \'authorities\' always say to stay away (what business of theirs is it if I have a thing for 10 tons of rotting flesh?). Apparently the Chinese (there is quite a large Chinese community in the SF bay area) think that a whales \'thingie\' is a potent aphrodesiac. The next day poor, dead, Moby\'s willie (7 feet long) was gone and it was suspected that China town now has ALOT of said aphrodesiac for sale.:eek:lol
