Ah, but fresh water is exactly what the whale is looking for, I expect. Sharks look for fresh water, because; fresh water kills the parasites that attach themselves to skin and gills. Perhaps that\'s why whales seek out fresh water from time to time.Originally posted by EricJ

happened in Bridlington (yorkshire) once but was a fully grown wright whale (i think) was about 40 metres or something it was huge. beached itself and lived for about 3 days. kept taking it out to see but kept returning. (fishermen say whales come ashore to die and when they do wont return to die at sea. Saddest thing i ever saw was looking into her eye when she was still alive
