What are your favorite SF minis?

Hey all,

I\'m thinking of painting up an SF mini for a local competition but I really know nothing about SF minis and what is available.

If you are so inclined, take a minute and school me on all the cool SF minis that are out there. Which are your faves?

Thanks and cheers!

As a former \"fantasy\" only painter, who has recently been converted....let me share some with you that I love....

1. Urban War/Void
2. Alpha Forge
3. Copplestones Future Wars
4. Warhammer 40ks Tau or Tyranids
5. Starship Troopers by Mongoose
6. INFINITY!!
7. Rezolution
8. Heresy
9. Hasslefree.

These are in no particular order...I am really partial to the Alpha Forge ones right now, as I have been painting quite a few of them....

Dark-Age Miniatures are among my favorites. I like the Dragyri, but as aliens that prefer close combat weapons, they appear more fantasy. But other models, like in the Forsaken group, would probably fit what you\'re looking for.

Examples:

Just to show a few....

Thanks for all your input!

My wife won\'t appreciate it though, when she finds out that I\'ve become addicted to SF minis now too! ;)

I think I\'m going to go with a Dark Age model first, they have some really nice models there. Is Alexi Z the studio painter for them?

EBuddha, I googled Dark Future and didn\'t find any minis. Do you have a link?

She\'s done a lot of work for them, but lately James Wappel\'s done most stuff. Many of the older minis were painted by Jen Haley.

LOVE that line of minis, but they definitely look better after paint is applied...

I have a ton that will never see the paint of day.:cussing:

Which ones do you have? I have three \'packs\' so far...but if I got all the ones I want, I\'d be broke and sleeping in the doghouse....lol

Sorry everyone for this answer, but I got to say GW

sure there are lots of duds in their line, but a ton of amazing and customizable sculpts as well.

Yeah, GW has some really good stuff: Sisters of Battle, Eldar, Tau. Never got any of the Tau stuff as I did NOT need a 5th army, but LOVE the drones! Really wanted some of those for no good reason that I could understand.

I would\'ve mentioned GW myself, but I was thinking more along the lines of \"generic\" Sci-Fi minis, while theirs seem iconic in their \"army-ness\".

If we\'re going to mention those types, I would definitely say VOID from Urban Mammoth. Some really nice minis in that range, that can also be used for generic sci-fi minis.

In fact, used a lot of their minis when I did a Sisters of Battle army, using them as Redemptionists. SWEET army. Wished I had painted them.

JUST remembered! Necromunda from GW is better for generic sci-fi minis! I had a Sisters army with the following for Redemptionist units:

Necromunda Eschers
Mordheim Sisters of Sigmar
VOID Berserkers & VOID female marines
Necromunda Orlocks
GW Redemptionists
GW skeletons (modified with machine guns or chainsaws)

And I had some Warzone Etoiles Mortants plus Mourning Wolves as backup unit choices.

Geez, that reminds me I need to get rid of some of those...too much stuff I\'ll never use.

Same ol\' complaint every mini collector says at some point.lol

I love Void/Urban War. Lots of clean simple designs that harken back to a more retro style.

I have to agree with Eric though that GW rocks. I know some of you think SM\'s are boring but you gotta love minis that go together like lego\'s (plastics) and are so customizable.

SOB\'s rule BTW! (still wishing for some plastic ones)
