What bases do you like your miniatures to come with?

i LOVE the privateer press bases (the ones warmachine uses) they simply look GREAT and you can use ether the peg or slot models on them :) i wish i had those for my tyranid army :( however i will admit i like the pegs on the feet more then the bar

I gotta agree with vincegamer here, I\'m all fpr precast as far as tabletop goes.

GW style bases are okay, but the Warmachine type look so much cooler.

For painting painting models rather than playing models, I\'d build from scratch.

I like having some detail sculpted on the base, or even on the mini that attaches to work as part of the base (like a skull or stump under one foot). I don\'t particularly like the integrated bases like the Reaper Dark Heaven bases, as they can prove to be rather awkward during cleanup. I don\'t really care much about size and shape of the base, as long as the mini fits on it reasonably.

i quite like using the GW circular, non slotted bases. the slots on bases sometimes annoy me because sometimes you\'ll have a gap, and you can\'t move them around without snipping them off and using a lot of green stuff

Try using sellotape to cover the gap :)

thanks for all the replies. It looks like the slotta/peg style is winning. With a strong preferance for the Privateer Press Style display base. Personally I agree but I do sometimes think those plastic PP display bases make the mini look like it is standing on a tyre. I Often prefer the sharper like od the GW slotta.

i find the gw type is actually easier to hold when painting a mini. I find the bevelled edge on the dark age/PP bases makes you pick the mini up by the painted bits rather than the base.:(

Got to love market research. I got to see a Victoria Lamb sculpted figure in the lead so to speak, very nice it was.

WHAT? Is that all this is? Market Research?

I feel so.....

used :(:(

I think the bases should be plain, so you can make the scenery on the base yourself. I like the Gw ones for gaming, and the look okay for display. I really like the rounded warmachine bases, too bad they aren\'t avalible in Norway :(

As Mr. Brushworth pointed out, you could use sellotape to cover he slot. I use cheap epoxy putty for the job, it also serves as the glue to keep the mini on the base.

I often snip the tabs off the bottoms of minis too, but leaving a healthy stub under each foot. This is a lot more sturdy than the narrow pins that some minis, like the Revolution ones, have. You could, of course, snip the tabs off and put pins in instead.

Yeah, slotta bases are more work, but I reckon they remain the most flexible.

You\'re only getting the feeling now? Perhaps nobody should tell you the real reason you are here...
