What brush sizes do you use?

I pretty much use what people have said with one exception. I use a script brush quite alot. It keeps a good point, small enough for eyes, highlites and the brush bends to get around certain castings to get the paint where you want it.

I use a 00 and a 000 ( detail and fine detail gw equivilant) for most of my work. Really it is not about the size of the brush that you use rather about your ability of the brush realted to \'brush control\'. Having a good quality brush always helps too - that way you will find that you are able to paint smaller details with a larger size brush due to the brush pointing alot easier and more naturally.

Dave, I reckon a GW \"fine detail\" brush would be lucky to be a 0, but certainly not near a 00.

IMHO. Maybe I bought freaky brushes.

I picked up a windsor and newton the other day. I bought a 00 and boy does it seem tiny to point compared to the gw brushes that I have been using lately! I think I will have to get a larger brush size in the WandN range!

Wow! Everyone uses such small brushes!

Its not the size of the brush its the tip that counts (ooo!ERRR!).

I have ordered & used some excellent brushes from EM4Miniatures. They are Kolinsky Sable brushes, and are very well priced (and I mean CHEAP, compared to WN or the equivalent). I am using a size 3 & 1, size 3 for basecoating and 1 for detail & highlighting. They are great brushes because they have long bristles to hold alot of paint and a great point for control/fine lining. And I will be getting more (recommend!). I have had the same 00000 for about 7 years now (can\'t remember the manufacturer, because the handle is covered in a THICK layer of Duct tape,to thicken it up and make it easier to hold/control). It does FINE stuff- eyes etc....

I have lots of GW brushes, but they have been relagated to \'dry-brushes\' because they are CRAP!!!!!

The biggest one I have is a size 7 round, great for bases etc, or a 5 \'filbert\' or chisel tip. They are used alot as well.

I\'ve used and abused many different makes including the GW red handled brushes.

Mike don\'t forget the black handled ones I know you remember thoselol

I have also used GW black red and blue handled brushes and all are very good for dry brushing, mixing and putiing on PVA and nothing else.

Brushes of choice are Kolinsky sable of which I use various makes but try to buy the triangular shaped ones as they are easier to hold and don\'t make the fingers ache so much, I use 1, 0, 00 and occassionally 000 and 0000.

I use a variety of brushes, mostly a 6\" wedge. It\'s also rather good for applying wallpaper paste and emulsion!

I use a stick, and no it\'s not Sh**y. Or a finger or my foot. And they are still better than GW\'s.

You sure you\'re not talking about Mr. Bean\'s teddy again, donga666? Following on that train of thought, a firecracker in a paint tin would be superior to GW brushes.
