What camera do YOU use?

I have finally euthanased my point and shoot Kodak which has served me well until it became terminal a few months back, and therefore I am in the market for a newie.
Rather than repeat some other posts I thought I would just ask what others use and then have the list as a reference.

I thank you all.

Currently using an old and partially damaged Canon Powershot A40 but I am hopefully getting a new Canon S515 right soon!

Seeing as my bro-in-law works for Canon and staff price is generally half the price of retail I might end up settling for a Canon SLR but I am still keeping my options open.

Canon 400D SLR. Excellent bit of kit - especially if you can get one half price!

I\'d recommend one of these as your macro lens if you decide to get a Canon SLR:

EF 50mm f2.5 Compact Macro

Some pics taken since I got it in November:

You can\'t go wrong with Canon or Nikon DSLRs - just make sure you stick quality optics on the front....

I absolutley love the pic of the bus. Has it been touched up with photoshop or anything? Has a very atmospheric feel about it. The cutie down the bottom isn\'t too bad either....looks a little like my now 5year old daughter a few years back.

I\'ve got a Nikon D50 and use a Tamron 90mm macro lens.

I was thinking about changing the camera soon for a D80 or a Canon 400D.

@ Bullfrog: That pic has been Photoshop\'d, although the composition is untouched and the bluring is just slow shutter. Sky has been bodged in - I need to put a better one in when I get one - and Big Ben has had to have some rather hefty sharpening applied as it had suffered with the slow shutter. It\'s just a doodle - I must go back and do it properly at some point! My mate\'s kid got a heavy dose of \'Shopping as well..... :)

@Beelzebrush: D80\'s a beauty - my mrs is on about getting a DSLR now and I\'m trying to talk her into a Nikon. Means I get the best of both worlds and my Canon lenses kept (un-knackered!) to myself!!! :D

If you go with the Canon...I might be interested in buying your 90mm.

I\'m off on holiday in a little over a week and what with it being christmas \'n\' all - or close to, I decided to give myself a present because I\'ve been nice to myself all year!

I got a Nikon D200, MB-D200 battery grip for portrait photos, an SB-600 speedlight, a 24-120 VR lens, a 80-400 VR lens, a shed load of CF memory a nice rucksack type bag for it and a monopod. :D

At this point I was thinking how nice to myself I really am and decided I should try taking some photos...

I do have a light box and some nice tripod lights I got off ebay a while back but they are \"somewhere\" around the house or shed so I just plonked the mini down and since I don\'t yet have a tripod I hand held the camera. so, wobbly user and bad light!

I must say, 15MB an image is a bit steep but what a camera!!!

Well the mini was assembled and painted by Fluffy :D

I can\'t wait to take some snaps of my minis in the light box whilst using a tripod... I\'m going to get one when i\'m back off hols.

Quit making me jealous! I\'m so tempted to blow about a grand on commissioned paint jobs when my income tax refund comes in a few months. That should buy me a handful of good reference figs to improve my techniques :D

Oh yeah I\'m supposed to answer a question here. I use a Nikon P3 camera. Unless they have radically improved their wireless technology, don\'t bother. To this day I haven\'t managed to actually network the thing to my computer, I still have the USB cable sticking out beside my monitor.

Cool feature in theory, but not worth the $50 if you can\'t get it to work. The camera itself is great though, I love it. A huge improvement over my ~5 year old Canon!

Though I think it\'s set to double by the end of February ???

I would say go for it because a tax rebate is just like free money from the government isn\'t it! lol but then I\'m not very good at holding on to money.

p.s. I just had a look and you\'re a DAMN good painter... anything beneficial to you is going to cost a fortune!!! hehehe

@ squidders........ Where can I find a \"friend\" like you who will buy me presents like you buy yourself? On second thoughts....don\'t answer that question.
Beautiful piece of equipment you bought yourself. You would need a shed load of memory to whack those 15MP lil puppies onto. Good oppourtunity to buy some more disk space too and give your computer a present.

As luck would have it, I got 3 servers from Dell just before Christmas... one of which has a little over 2TB of space :D

Nice stuff Squidders! :) And Scott, those photos are great.

I use a Sony DSC W70, a pretty basic digital camera. If you are going to be able to get Canon SLRs half price, d\'you think you could get me one? :D
