What camera?

This is a question for the photography experts out there. Is it possible to buy a digital camera that can cope with all sorts of miniature photography for less than £140?

I have to sort out 11 of them for work and that’s what I have in my budget for each camera (I\'ll get VAT off it because its for work). It needs to be able to do single, group and large model shots to a good enough standard to show on the web, not print.

To be honest I don’t really have a clue. I can use digital cameras but I know bugger all about what to look for when buying! The CANON PowerShot A610 looks like it may be a good bet but that’s just from looking at some online reviews.

I’m going to head to an electronics store tomorrow to have a play with some but recommendations and what features to check would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I use the cannon powershot A75 and A650 and they are both resonably cheap and take pretty good pics.

Kodak Easyshare is quite a good range, there should be one in your budget range.

MMmmm. The Z740 is delicious! I think you might be able to find one comfortably withing that price range if you look around a little.

I was playing with it the other night like the new toy it is. I can even read the made by stamp on my straight edge in a photo from over eight feet away with NO tripod:

And with no zoom:

And at four feet full zoom good light, still no tripod:

Thanks for that folks. Looks like the Z740 could well be the one. Those test photos certainly show it should be able to cope so thanks for posting them Orchid. It\'s easily cheep enough too. Woo hoo!

Preowned are a no go really because I need to get 11 of them at once, otherwise I\'d have looked into that option.

The Canon A610 is a nice little camera as well. It\'s what I use.

I can\'t vouch for any of the other stuff, but the Canon should be able to do everything. If your budget can stretch the A620 does everything the 610 can do, but has a higher pixel count.
