What colors for a sword hilt?

I'm currently painting "Monique DeNoir" by repear:

But I'm painting her as a non=vampiric approach: blue armor, yellow/gold trim. But I'm stumped on her sword; particularly the hilt of all things.

The hilt is large and has skull/rune details on both sides that I'd like to pick out. I thought 'bronze', but am concerned that I'll lose the detail and that it's the wrong color to use.

What color would you paint the hilt and pick out the rune details with? Any suggestions?

I'd still go with bronze. It fits the rest of the colour scheme and that of swords in general. Can ensure the details stand out with some shading around them and then picking them out in a brighter colour. I'd consider a light grey or blue-grey
