What constitutes - 5 = gaming standard

Hi all,

I have enjoyed reading the posts here I have learned from I started to post on here that some people just like to put others down. I know I am not and probably never will be of a GD winning standard, but I will keep plugging away. I have learned not to take the low points I have scored in my posting to personal, there are a few posters on here who\'s opion I value, they have been fair in the comments that they posted about me. I like to think my painting is of a table top quality. There are people who like to be rude and others that like to be helpful, the rude ones or the unhelpful ones I ignore, I look for certain people when I post here I will always take what they say as being truthful an honest, and this does not mean that I just look for pats on the back, I value what they have to say. The others the ones who have nothing to say but still insist on saying it loudly I ignore. The point I am making is to take what you like and leave the rest.

If you\'re a CMON supporter you get the feature to see an average score of only the votes of registered members.

Truly worth the cost.
I put more stock in that score, and the 50-70 average is true-ish.
An arse slamming it with a 1 can\'t be fixed by an embellishment with a counteractive 10, but all in all, it is less likely that an arse will pay the cost to support a site, just so they can slap 1\'s on everything.

It\'s registered member votes, not suporter votes, AFAIK. It doesn\'t cost anything to be a registered member and I\'ve seen people explain some pretty bizarre voting standards here in the forums.

What the... why would you say that with all the evidence to the contrary?

For random figures from anonymous submitters that might generally be true (ignoring GW fanboy influence or similar bias as to manufacturer). But we\'ve seen mini after mini with votes in the multiple hundreds that have clearly been \'tweaked\' upwards; on the other side there have been loads of cases of sniping where come 50 or so votes the thing hasn\'t come near to being back in the region it should be (e.g. a mid-8 figure still being in the 6s).

So no, we can\'t say that a mini is worth what it averages. If only that were true!

lol

That post is a solid-gold classic.

It\'s back to personal preference and perspective. I\'ve only got a few in my gallery, nothing rates above a 6 and I\'m ok with that. Whatis \'cool\' for one is crap for someone else. The war walker I did in the challenge against Springbok currently stands at 5.7 but the paint job is terrible. The fact is it was something different and that gave it an element of \'cool\' to some. My Captain Beaky was liked by someone - they rated the pic an 8! My CMON12 entry looked good IRL but the photo was awful and not everybody likes that type of figure.

Anyways feel free to visit my gallery - waghorn41- and rate my work. But will it be \'cool\' or \'good paint job\' ? :D

btw most, well 99.9%, of my minis are painted for the table top.....MY tabletop

Wow. This has really opened my eyes as to what \'Tabletop\' is to a lot of people (and how well I think I\'ve done to get 6\'s!). Personally I find that it ranges from person to person and that\'s why a lot of scores are so varied. For me tabletop can be anything from neat base colours to some washes and a couple of highlights.

Personally I vote for people\'s effort as well, attempted conversions, NMM and freehand etc, even if it isn\'t that \'great\'. I guess it\'s all up to an individuals discretion at the end of the day.
