What do I need to work on most?

Hi all,

My girlfriend, how I love her, asked me what I wanted for my birthday. The immediate response for more minis has been superceeded by a much more useful present, a day's tuition at Golem Studios. Now my question to you all is what should I be spending my time there trying to learn?

My personnal opinion would be blending and weathering but I would be interested to know what you think.

TBH, you will learn a lot just by going, only thing i would suggest is pay attention and ask if you are not sure, get as much of the day out of it as possible.

I really want to go to this but its just a faff getting there with british fail, so hope its a great day

Colour theory, blending, and how light falls on a surface for knowing how to shade/highlight. Armed with those three, you'll have most of what you need to be a great painter IMO.

I would just go bring along a couple of models to show them and see what they think you need to improve on

Thats a good idea, let the guys see your curent strengths and weaknesses and how the classes can help you as a result etc.

That is a great idea,I'd take what I consider to be my best and worst painted as well as a few in between.All in all though just showing up would be an experience,it would be great to have something like this here in Australia,it might even exist but as far as I'm aware it doesn't.If anyone knows differently please PM me.

Get a good chair in which to paint and invest in a decent daylight lamp / bulb.

That it was! Definately lessons learned and well worth the trip.

Was trying to continue today but disaster struck! I was showing my housemale what we had done and I dropped him!

His helmet wings pinged off in opposite directions. One I have found but the other has been swallowed the daemon of dropped mini bits. Most put out and kind of took the fun out of it for today.

Question though, what was the brush we were using? I got some big GW ones for basecoating but I can't remember what size your W&N brush was.
