What do people make of the new GW Giant model?

Hiya, I\'m asking this because I genuinley can\'t make my mind up!!

On one hand I think he looks cool cause he is so big and imposing, plus the fact he will come with loads of different parts to make loads of variants (including Chaos giant , ogre slave Giant and albion giant), not to mention a ton of extra detail like a cow and one of those cage thingies that they used to put bodies in and hang up to rot by the roadside!

But on the other hand he just looks like a lanky streak of P**s! Not being funny or anything but if fantasy and fairytales have taught me anything its that giants should be big, beefy and fearsome, not lanky, scrawny and pot- bellied!???

At first I didnt like it but once I saw the spru and all the spare bits I thought It was great. The amount of conversions I can do and all the spare bits.

Still I scratch built 3 giants for my O&G army.

I dont mind it. I might get one to paint and sell...and to have all the extra cool bits.

When is it coming out anyway? Its been on the site for like 6 months and still isnt out :/

sorry for going over old ground, I\'m fairly new to the site (I actually stumbled across it after buying the hotly discussed \"bielzebubs evil stolen painting guide of doom\" sold to me by Adolf Hitlers evil brother off ebay!

Do you have any pics of your giants? would like to see them! I\'ll probably end up buying a GW giant as well, soley for the fact that its shiney and new!

Have been reliably (?) informed by my local GW manager it\'ll be out on the 20 somethingish of April!

We talked a lot about this at our local game Saturday. The problem is it would take a lot of conversion to make him look muscular like most of us think a giant should be.

I like all the conversion capabilities, but the body is almost useless because of all the flabby bits.

i personally like him. especially because of the myriad of bits he comes with. i intend to get one. if only to use him as a scale reference for when i sculpt my own!

i don\'t like it at all, it just looks wrong to me I think that a big potential has been missed by GW. Yes there are conversion possibilities with all the extra bits but the overall sculpt I think is very poor.

I generally like it. Don\'t like the stomach as it makes it look like it\'s starving since the rest is skinny. But since it is plastic it wont take much to fix that.

i think its brilliant, lots of variantions and possibilities, and i personally like the fact its not the conventional muscle bound giant.

I like the extras but the main torso is awefull. If they had kept the figure in proportion ie thin and lanky like the arms and legs then it would have been ok.

Alot of peoples major gripe with GW is that they copy too closely the common stuff in Fantasy imagery i.e. elves, dwarfs. In this case they have gone against the common view of a giant and gone for something that doesn\'t just look like a scaled up beefy human. Maybe the belly is a little large in comparison to the rest of him, but he\'s not a human, he\'s a giant, so I don\'t think he should have to conform to human proportions

My local GW showed me the sprews...there are so many great bitz on them. A cage that can fit another model inside it, strange weapons, a tied cow, a person running away, a smushed gnoblar/goblin... (i think i remember that).

I want it but mainly for bitz....like, some bitz in particular...

I\'ll probably get the Forgeworld giant for Shilpa instead (yes, for her...she likes it a lot. it reminds her of Jack & the Beanstalk)
