What has he on his magic stick?

Hi everyone, I have a question about the Avatars of War Orc shaman:

The thing he has on his staff, it it a snotling or just paint of the stick itself?
I\'ve seen people painting him purple, wood, or like a snotling etc. etc.

Your thoughts?

from the way it is sculpted it seems u have free choice as to what it actually is.

just under the snotling thing is some wrappings, which hide what it really is, there could be bolts holding in place a metal snotling, the wood could continue so it would therefore be wood, the snotling could be made from a precious stone.

so basically, its up to you. IF you really want to know, then try asking the sculptor. That would be your best bet

Knowing orcs, it could actually be a REAL snotling - a la Xmas tree fairy! (ouch)

But I can\'t imagine a real snotling retaining that peaceful pose. Like MM said - it could be anything - go crazy :D

I\'m not an ork player but from what I\'ve seen I\'d guess their sculpture isn\'t as advanced as their taxidermi.

That means I think it\'s a dead stuffed snotling

if you want to paint it like a precious stone,, or like a gem, check the articles andfind one on complex gems (it would be perfect for this).

i agree with vincegamer, no way on earth orcs would of sculpted something like that. Old dead stuffed snotling sounds right to me with war paint on him.

The man is right, i\'ll give him that. If it is a carving i\'d go for it being made of wood not stone on the whole orc\'s not being very tech minded

but you do have to remember its a wizard right,,,why would a magic staff be made completely of wood. Its more likely that he stole the top from a sacred shrine or the likes.

Yeah, a sacred shrine with an idol of a holy ork on it

lol I really think it\'s permissible to use your imagination a bit - it\'s fantasy for god\'s sake! Gandalf\'s magic staff is made only of wood, anyway :moon:

It\'s an ork sitting with his legs crossed and his arms up in the air. Two skulls are tied to his arms. I would imagine that this is some sort of brass fitting on the end of a wooden staff, but I wouldn\'t paint it NMM or metallic.

Imagine this guy is casting a spell, which is really what it looks like he\'s doing...
Where would this magical \"force\" be centered and what would it be doing?

I imagine that the ork on his staff is holding that pose for a reason. The force generated by the staff would most likely manifest itself right over that orky brass head. You could make some really saturating source lighting right at that point and extend it down so it even shines on the back of the shamans head.

This way it would drown out all the natural color of the end of the staff anyway. The underside of the ornament would be shadows, and might show a little bit of it\'s natural color, which you might do as dark brownish metallic.

If you\'re really schnazzy, you could make lightning coming from his staff with wire. You could smash some thin wire with a hammer and give it a nice random feel.

Good luck painting this beast.

Cheers for the pimp there Bill...
I was really puzzled too when it came to this bit it could be anything artistic license is there..
I noticed there isn\'t much distinction btween the staff and the bit f the top so I painted it woodgrain like a little orky carving...

okay, first I want to say I love this mini. Very dynamic sculpt. I\'ve been dying to reply to this post because I\'m  and evil.

1st the seriuos answer. Paint it what ever you want. I\'d go with wood carving of a snottling but that\'s me.

Now the answer I\'ve been holding back......Which magic stick?

It was a loaded question and numerous evil replies have drifted thru\' my mind over the last couple of days. I\'m just too bored now not to say SOMEthing! Sorry to inflict my warped sense of humor on ytou. please forgive me and you can whip me if it will help.

Finally, someone talked about it:p, I made the topic name with some evil twisted humour:p

@Demonherald: Gross! Talking from own experience here?:drunk:
