Personally I really liked Enterprise, I was very disapointed it was cancelled. I still have a soft spot for the original though.

I wouldn\'t go so far to say that everything else is terrible, but the two seasons of the original were hands down the best for me. Had \'em all on VHS. ;-P

I\'d say Deep Space Nine, and the episodes of Star Trek TNG that were made around the same time. I really, really liked the post-Gene-Roddenberry \"darker\" Federation. GR was a great idea man but he was too idealistic about there being little realistic conflict in the show. \"Grittiness\" is such a cliche, but I really feel that after GR\'s executive override was no longer a concern, characters became richer and more nuanced, plots became thicker, and politics became much juicier.

I think I\'m with NSA on this one. While I like things about all the ST series, I like that there was a bit more of a realistic acknowledgement of some less positive personal and societal characteristics in DS9.

Favourites: Voyager and TNG

Least: Enterprise and DS9

Also - why is it Enterprise had such crappy 1980\'s soft rock intro music when all the others had soaring orchestral scores?

Enterprise had its charm but it was a bit too revisionist for my taste.

Voyager for me, by a large margin.

Least fav: DS9.

TNG for me. Never watched Voyager, mainly b/c I never heard anything but negative views of until you lot suddenly piled on the positive bandwagon. lol DS9 I hear got a lot better as it went along, but I didn\'t make it past the first season.

The only thing I can say about Enterprise is they certainly had a hot Vulcan.

TNG for me.

Voyager was fine, but Neelix got on my nerves as did his girlfriend. I\'m glad they made her \"ascend\" or whatever it was.

DS9 was OK too, but for some reason it always reminded me of Babylon 5.

I tried to watch Enterprise, and failed.

Now this is a subject I can really get into.

Deep Space Nine is by far, for me, 100% the best. It\'s the development, interplay, and writing of the characters that really sets it apart from the other series. No show developed their characters quite so well.
I also really enjoyed the friendhip between Miles and Julian. Plus Capt. Sisko is a BAMF.

I liked Enterprise second best. Most people disliked how the whole 3rd season was a to be continued, but really thats what I liked about it, the stakes were high and it was very tense. I think Capt. Archer is a jerk 98% of the time. Hoshi is adorable.

TNG is next, but really the first 2 seasons don\'t do it for me, and I usually skip them in reruns. I\'d have to agree that the TNG episodes from the last few seasons when DS9 was going on were the best. Picard is great, Data is great, Worf became good after giving the wrong suggestions consistantly through the whole series. I was so glad when he got to DS9, because they let him be right every now and again. Everyone else is kind of meh.

Voyager was ok, I really like the Doctor, Tom and Harry, Janeway and Chakotay. It really had a sweet spot around the middle of the series, but kind of got rediculous in the final season. Glad it ended when it did.

The original series is last, if only because I really didn\'t have much chance to watch it growing up. I\'ve seen all of their movies though, and think they are great. Plus the Enterprise-A is a really cool ship. They are all kind of lame in the show, but Sulu and Spock are awesome in the movies.

Do I get my nerd wings now?

One man\'s opinion......

It has to be TNG, if only because they introduced 3 of the most important components of the ST universe:

1) The Borg
2) Data
3) the Holodeck

plus they had Deanna Troi.....

Loses points for: Wesley Crusher and one season of Diana Muldaur

Star Trek ( original ) is second and gets points for

1) making the whole genre accessible
2) Spock
3) Spock
4) TCOTEOF
5) Mirror, Mirror

loses points for : Cheese and Chekhov

DS9 is a close third

1) Dax
2) Cardassians
3) Odo
4) Sisko
5) The Defiant

Loses big points for the Ferengi nonsense

Voyager

1) stranding Federation w/ Maquis
2) Janeway / Chakotay relationship
3) Most of the 7of9 storyline
4) Tom Paris

Loses points for Neelix and Blondie ( Kes), Harry (period), and Janeway / Q nonsense

Enterprise

1. Hot Vulcan Chick

Loses points for being late to the party, revisionist and generally boring.

And see, the constant TBC was what killed it for me. I\'m not able to sit down every week and watch my favorite shows. It required a commitment that I just couldn\'t make. I really enjoyed the individual episodes that could stand on their own. But if I missed an episode, I was in the dark about what was going on and become completely uninterested in the series.

I\'ll bring this up gingerly as I don\'t want to start an old school newsgroup fight, but I think Babylon 5 did this type of arc story right. A lot of the episodes were pieces of the story and watching them in order gave you a lot more insight. BUT, you didn\'t HAVE to have watched the previous week in order to enjoy the show. Each episode could stand on its own with a certain amount that was confusing, but you still walked away with a happy in you. Enterprise\'s constant TBCs didn\'t leave me with a happy.

Oh, and TNG for best series. I think everybody here is voting for whatever series was on during their formative years. I wouldn\'t be surprised if you took the years that you were a teenager and it would match nearly perfectly with which series was playing at the time.

Well that has to be classic enterprise and voyager for me. But I\'m not a great fan of Star Trek.
I loved Space 2063 and Babylon 5 first 2 series and of course classic Star Wars...now flame me! :p

I have been to a Star Trek convention though (\'97 or \'96). A friend got sick and sold me his ticket half price. It was...hmm...very funny there. That was the first time I saw something like Cosplay...
I got myself a Leonard Nimoy sign and some from other actors I didn\'t even know =)

Actually, Voyager was in syndication when I was in college. The reason I like it so much was I related to my job at the time.

I worked as a police cadet my senior year, and had two crap shifts that ended at 1 AM. I had crazy nights most often, and came home wound like a spring. I relaxed by watching Voyager re-runs and forgetting the tragedies that people sometimes make of their lives. The show was mostly unimportant - what mattered was that it made me feel like a human being again.

Most of what Chris said with the exception that I\'d tie TOS, DS9 & Voyager as a parrallel scoring.

Really dissapointed with Enterprise. So much potential, so little result.

And yes I watched TOS when they were first made an shown on the BBC as a \"Fill In\" when Doctor Who (William Hartnell) series took a break.
