What is Golden Demon like?

The best place to go for info on painting is CMON, and the best painters to ask about competitions are at CMON! So, back to my question, what are Golden Demon competitions like? What\'s the process? WTF is a qualifier badge, pics would be awesome! How are the judges? How are your fellow competitors? I ask because I intend to go to GD 2010 at the USA headquarters to enter this year. One last thing, how do spouses stay entertained at these things? The wife is joining me for support and just being rad.

about a week ago I did an analysis of somebodies GD entry. It doesn\'t have answers to all of your questions, it is somewhat centered around a specific entry and obviously reflect my personal opinion on the matter only but it contains a thing or two that you might find useful. the link is bellow

other then this. Rules and regulations are here

I would recheck rules closer to the event since I am sure there will be minor but annoying changes. On the same site you can also check wining miniatures.

Unless you spouse is into the game she might be mildly bored in the convention center. However, if this is Baltimore GD we are talking about the venue is right in Baltimore\'s downtown (or rather Baltimore\'s harbor\"). There are a number of attractions there - big oceanic aquarium, naval and coastal guard museums, bunch of different restaurants (mildly overpriced, of cause) and shops.

GOlden Demon is alot of fun. Lots of great painters to talk to and paint with. Last year alot of painters put on a program called the golden demon lounge where volunteer painters who compete and win in the competition regularly showcased their works and taught painting classes. Plus there are lots of great entries, some win and some do not, but they are all very inspiring and creative.

only been to gduk. the comp itself is good. a LOT of politics though. we always leave the show itself and go to the bar nearby for a chat that lasts most of the day

spouses either entertain each other or (preferably) dont go. i would hate to go if i werent interested
