I am not sure how it all happened except that I distinctly remember that I was very serious about this mini when I started. Must be some chaotic taint :) This mini received honorable mention in 40K single, GD 2008, Baltimore

Must\'ve been some stiff competition at Baltimore for you to go without the win, because that guy looks great.
The Nurgle genie in the bottle is very clever.

Competition in category was indeed pretty good with several interesting minis. Formally however the genie is an element of a base and bases are not judged as long as they are there :).
In addition to this, this particular mini had so many casting mistakes that I probably should have returned it. I didn\'t because the whole process when order FW stuff from US would take me month and a half.
I am not sure whether it is obvious or not but the gas mask, gun holster and part of the cap had to be seriously adjusted. Half of the fins on the filter were missing as well

In the end there were several corrections that were beyond my skills and I had to leave them be.

The idea and composition are great!

The paintjob of the commissar is good and the effects on the base give me plenty of ideas for futur minis.

A few things that don\'t work for me :

*) The bottle is broken; where are he glass shards?
*) If the bottle is broken, why is the genie/demon coming out from the opening?
*) The bottle doesn\'t seem to be in scale or else, that\'s a nice magnum ;) ;
*) The sludge on his right boot and the spilt liquid are good ideas but I think you could have added gloss varnish to them to make the effect more real;
*) I\'m not a fan of the freehand on the demon\'s head; it\'s done well but I\'m not really sure it suits the subject (can\'t really explain why, just a gut feeling);
*) I think you could have made the eyes of the demon glow brighter; it would have added to its menace.

Actually, there are some, but the only way to see them clearly is to shoot the picture straight from the above. I have a question though, how would you paint glass shards? Something very bright and reflective? Perhaps combination of mythril silver and varnish?

Why not? Something\'s emerging from the bottle, Commissars smashes the bottle but it continues to emerge.

Alas, I agree with this, and it looks even bigger on the picture for some reason.

That I can easily add, not a bad idea

*) I think you could have made the eyes of the demon glow brighter; it would have added to its menace.

This is also easy to fix. Also a good idea.

I think contrast is the key. So I\'d go for some dark green base with near white green highlights. And yes, gloss varnish would be perfect to make it convincing. But I wouldn\'t go the metal way.
