what is the best miniatures game out there?

Ok I saw Super Dungeon Explore at GenCon and picked up the minis did not get to test it out thou... looks very cool...
I have to go with Freebooters Fate, Werner has incredible sculpts and the game is quick fun and simple plus i do not need to have a pound of dice to play it.

nice, nice. this game is awesome fun. have just about every expansion pack they have made and i play a game every week or two with the wife. never gets old.

fieldarchy has a point - 3.5/pathfinder can have some pretty epic mini battles.

Yup! Some of my fondest memories are my band of low level adventurers up against 100 orcs and gobos. Ahhh . . .the memories

Gonna go with Fieldarchy on this, i never played much mini games but did a lot of 2nd ed through 4.0 gaming. In fact 3.0 D&D is what got me into painting as i was tired of seeing all the unpainted minis my gaming club used since none of them painted. Although i have the 4.0 core books i hate the overly simple MMO style mechanics so my wife and i chose to stick with 3.5 Although i will admit i would like to try 40K one more time.

warmachine, confrontation, DBA are the first one on my mind

you see, my gaming career is differeent from most because i didn´t start with any GW game, instead an add from a Battletech Novel ( good old times ) made me march into something called a gaming store where i fell in love with Rackham. Played Confro as we called it here for years, and was one of the first in my LGS to pick up warmachine. Warmachine is just alot of fun and i love the cryx miniatures

if you looking for a historical wargame thats fun, and fast to play i´d defenetly go with De Bellis Antiquitates. Played it a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Plus you don´t need many miniatures

BTw I know this is suppised to be Miniature games only, but since you guys mentioned RPG´s , i´d like to throw in to card games i recently picked up:

Call Of Cthulhu
A Game of Thrones - great multiplayer modus for up to six people and just very nice designed imho. Plus if you read the books ( i just started ) it´s nice to see how the characters of the different houses are build into it

Technically, nowadays there's nothing RPG about DnD. It has become a through and through advanced hacknslash board game with miniatures so in my opinion they were still talking about miniature gaming.

I started many years ago with "Battle: Practical Wargaming, Charles Grant, Model and Allied Publications, 1970." excellent fun with airfix plastic toy soldiers and tanks, things have changed a lot since then, but I always remember it as being FUN without the tendencies with the GW Genre for players to have "Uber" Characters which for me spoil their games - other than the excellent Space Hulk
I did experiment with 1/300 figures in Avalon hills squad leader, that worked well too, possibly because of the excellent rules set.

Kinda gone full circle. The game originated in battle rules.

I quite enjoy making the snarky comment "I played D&D a few times, then moved on to RPG's". Being an arse is a lifestyle choice I'm locked into.
