I hope noone will take bad what I am going to do, but I just had to...
I recently posted this picture :

img4440dd7b7f02e.jpg

At this time it\'s rating 2 points less than :

Suzifull.jpg

Can you honestly explain why there is such a difference in votes?
I hope Klute won\'t mind I took his picture, and be sure I am NOT COMPLAINING or something, I just wish to know!
Thanks

Skin is smoother, she doesn\'t look like she is about to fall over with a corncob shoved up her butt and the plaid pattern on her socks.

Reverse her on the base and that pose might be possible. Redo the gun for some better highlights and definition.

And this should be in the Discuss Submissions forum

one thing is the way you are thinking.
You asked what\'s \"wrong\" with it. Nothing. Why is it getting a lower score than that one? Or, What can I do to improve the score?
Those are more profitable questions.

Klute\'s is smoother (though some reason the backs of the legs are streaky), and the gun in his is sharp and defined.
Your gun just looks black.
Your mouth is rather large.
You could be a little neater - there\'s some shoe color spilled onto her left sock.
Your base is . . . just a base. Klute added barbed wire which implies more of a story beyond the image.

What you did very well is the hair. Can\'t improve that as far as I can tell.

I don\'t think she rubbed her fake tan in properly on the back of her legs, its tough you know!

Are you seriously telling us that you can\'t see the difference??

The main problem is the utterly ludicrous positioning on the base. That\'ll be costing you at least a point I reckon. The rest is just a case of style and technique. Klute\'s is better.

I\'d be pissed off if I were Klute I have to say...

Thank you guys.
I changed the pose and reworked a little the gun. I will show it tomorrow after picturing.
Vince, getting a lower score then someone else is not a problem to me,but (yes, there is a but...), the 2 points look enormous to me, that is what I was meaning. Maybe I shouldn\'t put so much importance on it...

Well, I will send an pm to all your 3 with the next picture of her.

i say pose and contrast. as said the pose looks as if she is about to fall over. and there isn\'t much contrast. her jacket on yours does not look as smooth. and little details on kluts such as the cute stockings and barbed wire makes it \'pop\' a little more

@Spacemunkie : \"Klute is better\". I\'m so stupid, I didn\'t even think about it. OH my god, That it is! Thank you Space, I will right now directly ask you if I have a question on paintjob; it\'s quick answer and so true!

Taking a more detailed look, the jacket seems very inky and blotchy, there is a nasty brown line at the top of her sock on the botom left pic (too much contrast here, almost blacklining).

I have to say I see no problem with the gun. You\'ve obviously gone for a black gun, the minimal sharp hilights suit it well imo.

I paint my thumb.
Yes, two points is a big difference, and there is a long way to go to cover those two points.
It\'s about refining and caring for every part of what you do, about finesse work.
Maybe a point up from where you stand could be a year of work, maybe you wont make it at all.
But that\'s the way it is. Painting is hard, when you aim over tabletop, and there is place for life long improvement, and it takes a tough skin to make it.

I paint about 40 hours a week cause I want to make it, and I bow low before those that stand on the other side of the \'cool\' line instead of wondering why I\'m still on the \'not\' side.

Now, get to work and impress us with your improvement, NOW!:flame:...;)

fyi raf: comparing your minis to other peoples in such a context is a faux pas.

I second that opinion. If you held up Klutes and said how do I improve to score the same as this; that would have been valid. Instead you just sound like a whiner. And honestly if you think your version isn\'t 2 points behind Klutes maybe that would be a good starting point.

I think a link to the voting page of both minis would be a help. That is hardly one of klute\'s greatest works.

Edit - Klute\'s is 8.1. I think that\'s a tad high for this piece (given the feather marks on the legs), which could be another factor.

If you ask me, the problem is the pose, and the big black lines. and the mouth is too big and as spacemunkie said Klute\'s is a coolmini. If you were to rate these on the XPlay rating system, yours: 3 out of 5, Klute\'s: 4 out of 5

I think this thread should just be left now, it\'s bringing out the worst in the CMON forum goers, and the original post was a bit daft.

lol
This thread is cracking me up.

OK I will be as unbiased as I can be and honestly havnt taken any offence.

My figure is rated too high IMO. The back of the legs isnt noticable in real life and I did the pics after I sent the figure to Sally so couldnt smooth them out.
I would probably vote her at 7 but when the green was posted by Kev on other forums it became evident that there was a severe liking for Japenese schoolgirls with big guns showing their nickers. So maybe that accounts for the extra point.???

OK now looking at Raftanga\'s version.
If this came up before me to vote I would consider the painting a 5-6. We all know the tabletop 5 is a load of balls to go off and I believe a 5-6 rated mini now is pretty decent.
I would then immediately rate it down to 5 becuase of the pose and would also leave a comment as to why (which I actually have done in another thread).

What to improve.
Pose for sure.
Hair could do with some more highlights.
The face is a big put off for me. Mainly the eyes look too dark. Too much makeup perhaps.
Blue jacket is blotchy. Smooth it out by redoing the highlights after washes.
The pink doesnt match the blue for me. Another colour choice maybe.
The darklining around her pants is too heavy. It looks like she has shat herself.
While the gun is cool black I think there should be more highlighting.

The base needs something extra. Notice how mine only has a roll of wire but it adds so much to the atmosphere.

And yes it is bad form to moan about someone elses score when you think you are hard done by. No hard feeling though from me.
;)

Right Im off to smooth those legs out in Photoshop.
Anyone round here that can show me how ?
