what kind of miniatures do you like the most?

fantasy

Fantasy is my favorite. I like medievalish stuff. It actually irritates me some that people want to stick rifles and pistols in games like Warhammer. But that\'s my problem.

I also like Sci-fi. Afterall, sci-fi is really just Fantasy that flies around and shoots lasers. It ought to be called Science-Fantasy, not science-fiction. But there again, it is my problem.

Still, have painted perhaps 3 sci-fi models and untold hordes of fantasy models.

I prefer anything I would call \"realistic\" even if it\'s a monster. I don\'t like things that seem to defy physics.
As to painting I prefer figures that don\'t have weapons. Regular folk. Historical civilians I guess.

I like fantasy and 90% of the minis I\'ve bought is fantasy... the odd 10% being cool alien babes (like Lilith Hesperax or Valerie Duval) because I love female figs!

I\'ve never found a SF line I really like as a whole... the fact is, I\'m a big SF fan and find gothic athmospheres exciting; I just do not seem to like when the two things are mixed together.
And most SF-oriented games are either gothic or post-apocaliptic...
I\'d like to paint some different SF stuff, maybe even with a touch of humor... like, you know, those old Paranoia miniatures that were so fun that GW had to stop producing them... :~(

I\'m sure that I\'m going to be eaten alive for asking this but, what is Barbarilla?

And how can you say Star Wars is Sci-fi? It has guns and flying ships, I\'ll give you that, but it has knights with swords who have a code of honor, going all over the galaxy to ensure justice. What was the Rancor if not a giant dragon that Luke had to slay? And the force is little more than Magic. Ben Kenobi was just an \"old wizard\" afterall.

I\'d be willing to accept that there may be a difference between sci-fi and sci-fant, but not if you are going to go with Star Wars as science-fiction. Science fiction is Isaac Asimov and even he has a streak of the unreal in his work.

But give it another shot. I may be converted yet.

oops

The preceeding message by Barkel was inteded for Big Mean Elf as a legitimate debate of the hypothetical difference between science fiction and science fantasy.

The current post is intended soley for the purpose of boosting my posts.

Avoiding the whole Death Wish deal, I\'ll just answer your first question.:D

The Barbarilla I\'m familiar with is an old movie featuring a young Jane Fonda. Set in outer space, its main plot seemed to be how many ways could the nubile Miss Fonda climb out of her space suit.:bouncy:

Not a bad concept, but for Science-Fantasy fo that ilk, my vote would have to go to Flesh Gordon! And no that\'s NOT a typo.

-temporarily reverting to 14 years old-

On the subject of Barbarilla...

When you say Jane Fonda has to \"climb OUT of her space suit,\" exactly how much out does she climb?

For purely scientific research I may need to view this \"classic.\"

Now don\'t jerk me around on the \"content\" of this flick. Don\'t say it\'s got things in it that it don\'t got. My wife just had a baby and \"things\" have been put on hold for a while. So don\'t do me wrong here!lol

Really, my intentions are pure.:innocent:

I wouldn\'t get too excited...

Barbarella is a truly awful 60\'s flick that combines Dr Who effects with crap period music and basically (and most importantly)Jane Fonda in various states of undress. It is probably worth watching once, if you have never seen it before, purely to be able to \'tick the box\'. I watched it hiding behind the settee, not because I was scared but due to the excruciating levels of embarassment involved.
If you want to see a far better film, get a copy of \'Flesh Gordon\' as previously recommended by dauber22. At least it has no pretensions to seriousness. And, if you have good eyesight and freeze-frame there are some well hidden XXX moments in there amongst the flufflol

BTW I reckon that the CMON crowd are absolutely incapable of remaining OT for more than three posts. Don\'t ya just love it?:bouncy:

Anything that has handsome/beautiful looking elves/aliens. But usually, that\'s fantasy. Though, Dark Ages\'s line looks good too.

Flesh Gordon and Hitchiker\'s Guide....

I haven\'t seen FG, but I saw a clip from it involving a claymation monster talking.
It sounded for all the world like the guy who did the voice of Marvin in the Hitchhikers TV miniseries. Can anyone familiar with both confirm or deny my hunch?

And talking about Barbarella, one must not forget it was a french comic book before being a movie.
