I too started with Airfix, painted with Humbrol enamels, but it was just some paint so I could game with them as a child.

Then, 30 years later...

2 Brushes, Blood Red, Skull White, Chaos Black, Ultramarines (or was it Enchanted?) Blue, Goblin Green, Golden Yellow, Bestial Brown, Chainmail and Elf Flesh and 5 Lizardmen Warriors.

My first minis were a set of three highway robbers from GW bought in 1985 or thereabouts. I did horrible things to them with Humbrol enamel paints and I\'ve since got rid of them... Got rid of the evidence, so to speak. :innocent:

Frodo Baggins - saw an advert on the telly showing miniatures from the LOTR movies and I almost peed myself I was soooo excited! Bought \'The fellowship\' box set and away I went - come to think of it, that was the only one from the set I painted.... started to be drawn into the world of fantasy miniatures... orcs especially

laughs out loud at Maggot thats pretty funny you know youre hooked when you see minis and almost pee yourself..I think I should have made myself a bit clearer on the minis..since the majority of the minis we have here are gaming minis..I think if i thought really hard I could think of a few more beyond around a plastic kit made from the pirates of the carribean ride ..or even toy soldiers from Marx.

The first one was a GW Bretonnian Battle Standard Bearer (BSB). I had won a silent auction at the local GW store for a staff painted Bretonnian army box, and I wanted to paint my own BSB.

I remember how I tried to get it to match the picture in the rule book, and couldn\'t even come close. I still can\'t.

Black Templar Hero. My first auction on ebay about a year and a half ago. Why? Because i looked at all the\'pro-painted\' stuff and i thought, thats not pro painted, i can do that....then i found this place as a wake up call just to kick my in the nads and put me back in my place :wow:

I did paint on /off for years with something like 5 year gaps but I\'ve only just tried to take it seriously...no seriously

Back in \'88, my wish was granted and I got the 2nd Edition Blood Bowl boxed set for my 14th birthday. After looking at the painted figures in the rulebooks, I ran out and found a hobby store in the area and bought a team of Dark Elves. I desecrated them at the time, and stripped them several years later and redid them.

I still have them... but they\'re currently stripped once more and are again bare metal, waiting to be converted and still awaiting a real paint job.

A LOTR male on horseback I do not know what one. I used an exacto to cut it\'s beard off and change hair to match my D&D character 2 years ago, painted in craft .99 paints.

Airix 1/72 scale English and German soldires round about 1960 bought at the Girls and Boys exhibition at Olympia - God thats a long time ago.

The 1st model I ever painted was one of the GW Ringwraiths. The 1st Model I entered a competition with was a Galrauch[chaos dragon], that really fired me up about painting models.

Hig Elf Phoenix Guard. I even took a painting class from a local game shop. Most of the focus in the class was about drybrushing. I look back now and laugh, but it got me started.

Armed with How to Paint Citadel Miniatures, it was GW Dark Elf crossbowmen. I believed that everything could be done with washes - thin washes that lead to my personal realisation of blending.

Much likle Nomis, I started by painting up little toy soldiers. Of course, mine weren\'t English & German. Mine were from \"Fort Apache\" (cowboys & Indians) and US Civil War soldliers. Used the old Testors enamels and fingernail polish. Then there were various car models. Then on to such things as the HO scale people and buildings that populated my slot car tracks. And, of course, the teams for my electric vibrating football game.
