What paints do you use?

I\'ve got the full set of GW paints, inks and foundation paints plus a couple of special items from Vallejo (glaze medium, thinner and off-white), Tamiya (smoke, clear red, clear medium and matt medium) plus some brush on primers from Miniature Paints. I seem to be getting the hang of the GW paints by adding the Glaze Medium and keeping them thin, this suits my latest style of painting well. I did find a shop near me that sells Umbrol Acrylics too so I\'d be interested to hear if anyone has experiences of them as well.

I got my last shipment of Gamecraft Mini Paints this morning; so most of my Citadel paints (and a few Vallejo and Coat D\'arms) will be getting the heave-ho sometime soon, apart from a handful of each that I like or that MP doesn\'t have substitutes for.

I also use a few foundation paints, mostly the colours that don\'t have reasonable substitutes (inc. opacity) in the main range.

Billy: I have just three Humbrol super hobby acrylics, but they\'re great stuff. They apply smoothly and opaquely, IME. They seem to be fairly duller than similar colours in other ranges, but that might just be the three I have, and it suits my tastes anyway.
Although, didn\'t Humbrol acrylics change recently? What\'s the story there?

What else? I got a few Anita\'s craft paints once upon a time, but I was put off by their transparency. I also have Daler-Rowney glaze medium and tension breaker, used as directed or in my own magic wash. Liquitex matt medium sounds like an interesting alternative, though.

I\'d like to try P3 but the price over here puts me off. One or two trial pots wouldn\'t go amiss, though.

I\'d also like to try the Reaper lines, but the sheer unavailability over here puts me off. :)

Mr. Bman: I haven\'t used Testors, but I used Humbrol enamels eons ago, when I was a kid into model kits. Nothing but bad memories. It actually put me off models until I discovered GW Belfast and it\'s rack of acrylic paints. I never looked back.

I started this thread to get the general view. Like Billy I\'ve recently bought some Humbrol - Black, white & Flesh. Not use the black or flesh yet but I have to say the white appear to be much smoother than GW. Even heavy thinned you don\'t get that chalky effect.

The other advantage is that their only £1.15 a pot as opposed to £2. Being thinner to start with I am assuming I\'ll use them up a little quicker but so far I am impressed.

I\'m gonna try out the flesh on some dark elves shortly I\'ll keep you posted.
