What\'s the best way to build a hill?

The new ebay comp theme is Concerning Hobbits. I need to build a heavily fortified Hobbit Hole and figure I\'ll start by building a hill and then cut away what I don\'t need. But I\'ve never built a hill before. How do I go about it?

First, get a shovel.

Second, dig a hole.

Third, take former contents of hole, make hill.

Sorry, I had to.

Okay, so some real advice. Foam insulation from HD or Lowes. Cut it into the rough shapes of the layers of the hill (sort of a topographical map). Then shape the layers smoothly into a hill. Apply sealer, texture, then paint.

For what you are looking to do, I wouldn\'t mess around with paper machet or wire and plaster. Start with a solid block of foam, and then either sand or carve off what you don\'t need until you get a pleasing shape. If one piece of foam isn\'t big enough, glue a few together, they should crave just the same. Be sure to fill in the gaps between sheets. Chimneys make any terrain piece a bit cooler.

Here also is an article on how to make hobbit holes specifically, although I\'d suggest modifying it to suit your own styles.

If you\'re gonna use polystyrene or similar I recommend a wire cutter - just be sure to use in a ventilated area. :)
