What\'s your workspace like?

M
Well, I haven`t organized a \"proper\"\" :) painting space in my new apartment so far, but I was able to set up on a tourist table . As always messy :D

Funny thing...

At 6am the window behind supervikes cool wooden chest looked like a weird painting to me. Now, 10 hours later, I see it for what it truly is.

gazing ball..

....is it the red globe just below the fence rail?

Totally off topic: How thick are the wall in your place? I just noticed how deep the window reveals where!
*sigh*...once a carpenter, always a carpenter lol

Yup, that red globe is indeed a gazing ball. A phenomenon that has apparently only striken America. It seems that every other yard has one of those in it.

The window ledges are about 12\" deep. (makes another handy shelf) Our house is a \'split foyer\' and this particular room in on the lower level, so the first four feet was made of cinderblock. The bottoms of the windows are just above ground level. To avoid a ledge all the way around the room, we just built the wooden studs vertically level with the cinderblock wall. The downside of this, of course, was my 12X16\' room shrunk down to a little less that 11X15\'.

This is a relatively new addition (last fall). It was a two story addition, with the upper level being a dining room. It is sooo nice to be able to have almost all my stuff in one little room..(although I have quite a bit still in my garage cabinets!)

I found this old picture when I was cleaning the computer yesterday.
I don\'t have a dedicated work space so all my stuff fits either into the toolbox or in the cabinet.
Games on the other hand take up two more bookshelves:D

(oh, I have a fishtank to display my minis in that I will one day get a glass table top for to make a coffee table).

I thought I posted a picture of my desk already in this thread, but I must be mistaking. So here\'s my desk. The picture is a bit old, and some things have changed a little. THe number of Vallejo bottles has tripled, and are now stored in a small plastic box (makes them easier to transport when I leave on holiday or leave town for the weekend), and I now also have more spray cans, but these are all stored in a cupboard. And I have added a second light.

But soon I will move to another house and have a bigger hobby room. Of course I\'ll post pictures when it\'s finished. For now, here\'s my \"old\" desk:

Back to the Lab again, yo...

The Lab, where I do my digital editing, compositing, and 3D Animation.

The pic on the background is one of Cyril\'s works. (It changes monthly and usually revolves around what I am working on.)

And the claws belong to the Sentinal. (Gargoyles are so passe...)

My Workbench (currently):

I am in the process of moving, so it\'s sparse and in the dining room at the moment. (The studio has boxes up to the ceiling.) I do my best to be as portable as possible so I can paint wherever I go, so almost everything can fit into the box behind the workstation. Sweeeeet...

What you see in the photo is a small fraction of her collection, and what she has now is a small fraction of what she used to have before we got married and began moving around a lot and she got tired of moving the load and ebayd them.
She currently has around 60 of the traditional size (including a longhorn bull lamp) and I don\'t even want to count the stablemates (you see maybe 1/4 of them in the photo).
Of course if you check out my gallery you can see 3 of the ones I have painted for her. I\'ve got 2 more in the line-up for when I\'m done with the bar exam.

I built a desk specifically for miniature stuff. I have two working areas ...one for painting and the other for messy stuff like sculpting, cleaning, Dremel miniature manipulation and basing.

Works really well. I\'m one of the lucky ones with a dedicated room ...I love it! :bouncy:

Here\'s some photos of the desk building in progress and the final work area:
