And The Velvet Underground are a better bet than all this Pink Floyd talk.

Hey Rev,
I think that\'s just a matter of personal taste. Sure while it\'s true that the music of (early) Velvet Underground is awesome I\'d personally prefer to listen to Pink Floyd.

Early Floyd with Syd Barrett also makes for some trippy listening. Check out \'Pipers at the Gates Of Dawn\'. Have you seen \"Live At Pompei\"? Awesome!! Apologies.. I\'m a huge Floyd fan from way back!

In answer to the question of this thread. Som much c00l music continues to come out of the good ol\' motherland.

Don\'t get me started on British Blues...

Aye but in my world nothing can beat the sound of those Velvets :D

It\'s all personal preference.

That\'s the whole point of the thread though I suppose, that lots of people expressed an opinion in a poll and came up with Oasis as top with what is their best album by 10 miles at least, and then lots of other people say \"what bunkum!\"

Opinion polls are generally toss anyhow :D

I\'ll try and pick up some of that early stuff though mate, and see how it plays. I\'ve only heard the overblown stuff (good though it is). Also used to play Syd\'s solo stuff in the old cafe. Great stuff :)

I thought it would be the Benny Hill theme....don\'t you Britons run around at double speed and chase heavily busomed nurses around the town?

In fact I doubt you can resist...

The Strokes\' Room on Fire is one of the best albums I have ever heard. I may noe have had as much musical experience as you guys (being a decade or two or three younger) but it really is 33 minutes of concentrated musical genius. Just really cracking stuff :] I would also recommend bothe Franz Ferdinand albums (first is superior though), Gorillaz, Arcade Fire and Sigur Rós. All excellent, all better than Oasis. Although Arcade Fire are from Canada, Sigur Rós are from Iceland (country not shop :D) and the Strokes are from America...

Oasis have really gone down hill recently, but Definately maybe was a superb album. Room on fire is excellent, probably the best of the Strokes\' albums, but it\'s major weakness is that most of the songs have a similar vibe. Franz Ferdinand? lol They have had their moment, now back to obscurity with them, like the Darkness.

Fing is see, Definitely, Maybe did happen to catch a mood at the time. It\'s their best work by far and as a 17yr old I listened to it everyday and still think it\'s a cracking album. Considering I can\'t stand the bastards, that\'s a great indicator of what the first album was like. Irregardless of how shite they are now, that first album was a little beauty.

And remember, it\'s only a poll...:]
That encapsulates my views entirely as well, although I was at least a decade older than the good Rev..

Actually, you could argue a case for OK Computer.
