The fans are pissed. The guy has mortgaged himself to the HILT to buy them. The annual payments on the loans he\'s taken out amount to TWICE the annual revenue the club generates.

And there was NOTHING that anyone could do about this. The guy has taken one of the richest and most stable sports teams on the face of the planet, and has well and truly yanked the rug out from under them!! It reeks of asset stripping...

The funniest thing is that all non-Man U fans find it hilarious!!

Yeah...heard about that. I think he had been maneuvering for a while. I heard that some folks were trying to block him back at the ending of last year or something, but they didn\'t have any legal recourse.

I think that to get even, Prince Charlie should come over here and buy the Yankees from George Steinbrenner lol lol Fan reaction would be about the same. Yankee fans everywhere would be jumping off from roofs and insisting that we invade the UK. All other baseball fans would rejoice! lol

Pretty much...or the Yankee fans would start yelling how they could spend more money now and how they should now sign our lord Jesus to put into the starting pitcher rotation.

What most people have missed is that he has NOT bought the manchester united football team. He HAS bought Manchester United plc (the company) because he wants to make money out of the business. Whether thats by stripping it or running it as a going concern is ultimately only his concern. Like all publically traded companies they are always up for sale. If this happened to your local food store, and they hiked the prices to pay for the loan, then they\'d piss off the customers (fans) and those customers would go elsewhere. So my response is if you don\'t like it support someone else. Simple. When fans realise their power isn\'t in demonstrations and pointless poster campaigns but in keeping their £ in their wallets, then these things wouldn\'t happen. But then that would mean Man Utd fans having to think......

I\'m sure man city would happily sell their partizan neighbours season tickets hehehe

He\'s welcome to them...

They deserve each other, a match made in heaven:flip:

Every Man U fan now appears to be prepared to boycott them totally in order to bankrupt him. Should be interesting:D

Reminds me of the story of the con man who bought the NY Rangers (Hockey). He actually took control of the team for a week before they realized the guy was broke. I guess they figured it out when the checks started bouncing. lol

As a Man U fan I am deeply stressed and hurt by the lack of sympathy we are receiving here in this community. There is only one way to redeem the situation. A public apology from one and all, and an admission you are WRONG, THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING.

In the absence of an apology you will be left in the naughty spot until you become aware your behaviour is not asseptable.

Sincerely,
OFFENDED

On the plus side, If he does asset strip them, we might find out who the real fans are, as opposed to the ones who support them cause they win.

(I\'ve been a fan since the early eighties when I started watching soccer, and Man utd couldn\'t win a thing.)

As a Man City fan i thought we had it bad being £60 million in debt (mainly cause of a new stadium) but now Man Utd are way more in debt than that. I read he has borrowed £540 million to fund this.

Don\'t know why he has bought them though, they make a profit but not massive, it will probably only cover the interest. You can\'t make real money in the premiership thanks to Chelsea\'s Multi Billionaire russian owner Roman Abramovich. He\'s spent over £200 million on bringing new players in in just two seasons:eek:

You can bloody well wait for your apology until after the English clubs return Mark Fish and Lucas Radebe to us. They may not be the world\'s greatest, but they\'re the best we\'ve got and they\'re ours.

I cannot believe you want sympathy because you support a lacklustre commercial enterprise, when this is national pride I\'m talking about! Man, you\'ve got some real nerve, you know that?!? And furthermore...

Well, the football fan in me should be saying how terrible this is... but the bitter, more dominant Leeds fan in me thinks it\'s utterly hilarious!

You could end up the same colour as the jerseys!

This is from a Spurs fan so you can\'t tell me anything about clubs being bought and sold!:D

It\'s been a really long time since Football (Premier League) had anything to do with sport. Now it\'s all business and profit.

Three or Four Years ago Manchester united were severley criticised by the Football Association for changing their football strip four times in the same season. Of course they sold the new strips at exactly the same price as the old and fans were expected to just cough up the cash. (Sound familiar anyone?)

I lost all respect for Football when they paid £15 million pounds to bring Alan Shearer to Newcastle United and in the same week closed two Mental Health units which could have been funded for 4 years on that amount.
