Bit of a silly question really from somebody with the amount of experience that I have but as I have never painted a bust before here is my question.

What do people that have done busts paint the non sculpted parts i.e that arm that stops at the shoulder or just below it?
I am just about to start cleaning up the dwarf bust from Dark Slave Miniatures and his left arm stops with the shoulder pad.

What colour should the under side of the pad be where the arm would normally be but isn\'t in this case???

Do you just paint it black???

Anybody out there at competition level any thoughts on this one please.

I was just planning on doing it a darker colour of the shoulder pad. Iv doing mine red, so il just paint the underside a very dark red.

I\'ve seen colours chosen diliberately for effect (like if the bust grades into a stone column or something like that) but I use black and this is what is most common from what I\'ve seen.
