Trying to find a comparable match to VMC and VGC metals using Vallejo Model Air.

What VMA colors would I need to buy to match the following:

--VGC--
Gunmetal / Gunmetal Metal
Glorious Gold
Chain Mail
Mithril Silver / Silver
Glorious Gold

--VMC--
Gunmetal Grey
Old Gold
Natural Steel

Thanks.

Gunmetal --> VAC Gun (a bit darker, but the best match)
Glorious Gold --> none
Chainmail --> none really, a mix of VAC Gun and VAC Steel is about right
Mithril --> VAC Silver
Glorious Gold (again? probably shining/polished gold) --> none really, the VAC gold is closer to this one, but still quite different

Gunmetal grey --> none really
Old Gold --> none
Natural Steel --> steel

VAC has only one gold, and it's a really bright one, so to have the golds you seek, you'd need to add a bit of browns and yellows to darken it to the needed shade.

Well that stinks. I've been told the VMA metallics are the bee knees. But not so good if I can't match them to VGCs or VMCs.

How are the VGC and VMC metallics?

Matching the colours shade for shade isn't the way forward, that will just lock you down in a set pattern without the ability to expand techniques.

Basically like painting with Liquid Metal.

They are, the colors are different, but they have a really small pigment, so the finish is excellent.
VGC: forget it, they are the worst I've encountered so far, P3 is a bit better, then new GW metals, old GW metals/Coat'd'Arm ones, Tamiyam, VMC and finally (for me) VAC metals are the order they are getting better

VMC: they are good, but I'd go for their liquid metal range even if that means getting a thinner for them and some synthetic brushes to handle them.

so my best advice would be:
- get the silver colored metals from VAC (all are great)
- get the gold from the VMC-Liquid range (alcohol based ones)
- brass-bronze... well I'd stay with VMC/GW, but possibly the liquid ones are good here too.
