Thing = Knife (its a well known fact that the knife is the BEST thing to have if in a survival situation in the woods.... (aks me why if you wanna know)
Food.... ration packs! (altho i would sharken a stick and spear fish and stuff also.. thank god for the knife! )
Person.... no one.... unless i had a gf at the time...... lol

Sure, I\'ll play.
Thing: my multi-tool, which includes knife, small saw, etc. and has a magnifying glass. The magnifying glass in particular will be helpful since it can be used to start fire.
Food: Hard call here, since I\'m sure I\'d be doing a lot of foraging and fishing, but if it\'s an unlimited supply, I\'d go with either a good fortified cereal or trail mix (makes sure to cover all vitamins needed).
Person: My darling girlfriend. Not only is she the only person that I could stand to be around for eternity, she\'s also quite knowledgeable in herbalism, which would come in handy for minor remedies and knowing what other plants are edible.

multi tools blow.... one main reson.. the knives on em SUCK..... plus i doubt ul\'l need the saw.... ok im giving reson for knife before some 1 asks....
why have a knife?. you can kill with it (for food or selfe defence of course) dig with it.... cut with it... start fire with it..... (magnifying glass on a multitool wouldnt work... its cheap plastic!) ... im sorry but if i see multitool again il\'l freak out :flame:lol

Um, is our food choice the only thing we have to eat? What other supplies do we have?
Guess I\'ll give a sensible answer and a less sensible one.
Sensible
1) One of those knives with the survival kits in the hilt and a compass on the end.
2) Fish, because you can live pretty healthily off just fish.
3) That survival guy already mentuioned, or an SAS survival expert.
Not so sensible.
1) One of those massive books that contains the complete works of Shakespeare, or Asimov or someone else who wrote a lot.
2) Chocolate
3) Natilie Portman, because I think I\'d kill Britney Spears after a week.

huh. funny, I\'ll have to tell my magnifying glass to stop setting things on fire, its not allowed.
knife is pretty usefull, but I think having and assortment of things can certainly be handy. And as to the knife blades on them \'sucking\'. . . Is it as good as a 1000-fold tempered shinken? well no, of course not. . .but you can still acomplish all the above with it.

I have heard that the SAS quite like Gerber multitools....
But I think they regard them as an \'as well as\' not an \'instead of\' with regard to a knife.
I have half a dozen Gerbers and assorted Leathermen and none of the tools are as good as the pukka article, but then again, they take up a fraction of the space, are light and are nearly as good as the real thing. I wouldn\'t be without mine.
Also, in this country, in the present climate, they are less likely to get you arrested on sight

yes military does use multitools.... Canadian does also... they even did in WWII (i gots a WWII multitool ).... how ever i would still prefere a good sharp combat knife the multitool is more for fixing equipment where as the C-7 / C-8 bayonet (also used as combat knife) is used for wel... killing.... and other stuff..... ive been on a few survival exercizes and very first one (and possibly second) we were constantly told that if any one asks you what to bring if you could only bring one theing the answer is \"a knife\"

Ok this is fantasy- so I\'ll give it a whirl
I\'ve got food so why the knife if its tropical, its magic right... 1. My pc with net hookup- you all can\'t be rid of me that easy 2. fully loaded pizza- so you can mix and match whatever you want, pick it off or leave it, make a salad -whatever and full spectrum nutrition 3. oh, some hot chick like my wife for example(brownie points)lol
