I came to Coolmini today to be greeted by a redirection by some site that told me that I\'d get viruses if I continued browsing the site. What? I\'ve been coming to this site for while, and never gotten a virus. Anyone have this happen too?

Do you have any live-monitoring virus checking programs? A few of them give warnings, even if the cause comes from a banner ad\'s link, which doesn\'t even actively trigger anything on the page you\'re on.

Ad-ware is notorious for redirecting, as opposed to Ad-Aware, which is great.

Windows Vista might do it too. I seem to recall that whenever I\'m using my wife\'s computer, it complains quite a bit.

My guess is that is could have been an unscrupulous advert. I have seen them, they are like a pop-up and launch so it covers your whole window - it states usually that you have a virus already or are going to get one. It can redirect you to another page. Usually it suggests you buy some \"software\" to fix this. It\'s usually a con. If you use a firewall, an up to date installed anti-virus and always update windows with the latest patches don\'t worry about these sorts of messages it\'s a trick to get you to fork out money. Only be concerned if your own installed anti-virus says there is a problem.
