Whats the best painting guide??

for a beginner, the miniature mentor painting a woldfen one is good.
for intermediate-advanced painters then the one by Jeremie (bragon) sold by kraken miniatures is a cracking buy.
it\'s always better to be shown in person but if you don\'t have someone who can gice lessons available then those two dvd\'s will help a lot.

Just keep pushing yourself and bookmark all the great sites, that painters have added material to, you dont need to spend a penny.

JBT\'s DVD is great because it gives a large amount of painting techniques (NMM, metallics, washes, glazes, etc.) and it also goes over bases. It is very good for beginners who want to learn about color, paint application, and so on. I would recommend this one for you. You can find it krakeneditions.com
Miniature Mentor DVD\'s are great because they do a bit more advanced techniques and the techniques are applied to various parts of a single miniature on areas that are normally considered difficult for everyone. Also the commentary is useful. Great DVD\'s if there is a specific technique you are really trying to focus on. These DVD\'s can be found at miniaturementor.com
Also Privateer Press has a DVD out right now, the first in a series, that covers the basics for newbies. Future DVD in the series are going to cover more advanced stuff. I have not seen it yet but I was told by someone who has seen it that it covers mini prep, pinning, real basic paint application, etc. Good DVD if you are just starting out.
Personally I like JBT\'s DVD a bit more because of the quantity of goodies. Like I said it covers a very large amount of content in one DVD.

I have to say I was not impressed with the Foundry Painting guide by Kevin Dallimore. It definately went from beginer to expert and covered all bases, but it only teaches one style of painting and was so repetative, I think the book could have been 1/4 the size and price and still given the same info.
Unless you want to paint exactly like cmon members sdean and witchhunter (among others) I would skip the Foundry guide.
I\'ve always found the How to Paint Citadel Miniatures guides rather useful, especially for a beginer to intermediate painter.
