Whats your worst mini-related injury?

Just wondering if anyone has had any serious injuries from assembling, converting or painting minis.

Last April I cut part of my thumb off, from halfway up my thumb nail up to the tip, just sheared it right off with a sharp exacto, took 6 stitches at the ER to put it back. I was cutting the base off a mini and was just doing some last shaves with the exacto after i was done with the dremel, luckily the exacto was brand new and sharp, otherwise it might have hurt.

I imagine MOST people will have a very similar answer...

Except maybe Uber...

Yeah, mine was the same except I was cutting a box as I remember.

Mine was similar, I was shaving the sides off a large round base because I wanted a flat disc for some Warmaster characters and stuck the scalpel straight into my finger.
Must have damaged something because it changed the shape of the finger ever since.

As for other injuries ask Shaz (Fizl) about her super glue incident or search the forum for it we have had this topic a few times :D

I was cutting THICK cardboard and the knife (x-acto) slipped and buried itself into my left wrist at the pulse area, It was a milimetre short of severing a vital vein:eek:
To say the least the was blood EVERYWHERE, and my family kept me away from the kitchen knifes for a while.

Less miniature building related and more to do with gaming but I once managed to slice my index finger to the bone with a retractable metal tapemeasure. No blood whatsoever and very little pain untill an hour or two later. At the time I just put a plaster on it and carried on with the game.

I think I lost though :(

Cut fingers like everybody I suppose.
A stabbed foot when I dropped my knife!!

OH and a punch to the head which I have just inflicted on myself. I have spent an evening carefully sculpting the word \"sigmar\" on a model.

When it was finished to perfection I realised I had missed off the \"R\" and no room to add it.

I had to punish myself

:(

@Zap - that\'s cheating.
If we\'re counting ANY injury, mine was putting a pickaxe through my left foot when I was about 6.

Didn\'t hurt as much as the bowl of TCP my mum made me put it in tho :(

I have a scar on my thumb from an xacto-knife accident, didnt hurt too much tho...

once when I was modeling some spiky fella(probl. chaos) I poked a spike in under my fingernail and it began to bleed, now that hurt:(

Stabbed myself in the belly once trying to cut something off something. Thank god there\'s enough \"padding\" there so I didn\'t reach anything important. Unfortunatly it was hot and.....well......I hate clothes. :D

Only had minor cuts from the x-acto blades so far and stabbed myself several times with guitar strings that I used for conversions, and just restringing my guitar, of course.

speaking of guitars... I dropped mine on my foot standing with it on my shoulders looking at something (probably admiring my nice painted mini) on my modelling-table , had to walk with crutches for a week or so.

ok I had my share of cuts with blades but only minor as I know how to handle sharp objects... ;)

Yeah i\'ve done the old pick up the guitar and have the E string(the thinnest one), embed itself in my finger. That hurt a lot..:|~ Also when making holes in conkers to put the string in i slipped and put most of the end of the bradle in my left thumb, owee...
However, mini related i think other than the usual shredded ringer tips you get with a new blade, the worst i\'ve had is when i cut my thum very deeply. It didn\'t hurt too much but i remember a lot of blood. Also when searching for a knife in a box of, i think Chas warriors, the knife slipped out the end and imbedded itself in my right big toe. I had no socks on or anything. It stuck in for a second and there was blood on the floor.

The End

Luckily, I haven\'t had any mini-related injuries as of yet. *crosses fingers* Of course, part of that probably stems from the fact that I tend to suffer other injuries that prevent me from working on minis in the first place:

\"It would be nice to play this Blood Bowl season with a painted team, I should start on that...\"

*sprains hand in a snowboarding fall*

\"Hey, it would be cool to take part in that painting contest that\'s coming up...\"

*fractures wrist in moshpit*

But one precaution I have taken -- based on reading stories in threads like this -- was picking up a pair of work gloves to wear when using my rotary tool or doing any serious cutting. It took a little looking to find some that actually offered some protection while still allowing enough manual dexterity to perform such small-scale tasks but I finally did locate a good pair, and I figure it will be worth the time investment so long as I\'m not the subject of stories like those above in the future. ;)
