When Hell Freezes Over

Howdy folks.

The Fallen One that I posted in the WIP thread is finished, it\'s still waiting for approval, but you can see it here.

That\'s right, he\'s blue, and why not, he\'s cold, look at all that snow on the base.

Any comments, critiques, suggestions, death threats etc gratefully received.

BTW, the runes on his axe spell Azaroth, cunning or what? :)

Cheers - Rab.

I love the bue demon look. I also like the weapons alot. I like the horns too. Hell, I like it all. My only complaint is that it could use another transission layer between the blue and black.

Looks really good! The bone sword is a nice touch, and I think the dark blue with red horns motiff works really well for this big ass demon (yup, I know how big these bastards are!). ;)

great!

This is my favorite of all the Heresy demons to date. It has such a cool pose and look.

I voted and left a comment. Good stuff Rab!

It is nice work Rab, I like it, however not as much as I think I should...which is a funny thing to say. It\'s just that I recognize the technical skill and obvious time and care given, but it still doesn\'t \"pop\" for me. I\'ve been trying to figure out just why for a good part of the day.

I don\'t know if I\'ve figured out why yet, but here are some thoughts...

You have a very large area which is your black to blue blend, and I think perhaps the area is too large with too few breaks to catch the eye. The weapons, teath and base stand out, but I just feel like those things aren\'t enough to define the shape of the mini... The hooves and fur on the lower legs seem a little underdone and I think if they had been a lighter tone could have done the job of the base defining the bottom of the mini, better than the base can. The horns, and claws on the wings I feel are too subtle, they are the exact same dark tonal range as the rest of the model and I feel could have helped define the upper half of the model with a bit more brightness. Especially around the face this is true, at the moment the face gets kind of lost, except of course for the teath.

Don\'t get me wrong, do like it, a lot. It just has that feel of being on the edge of something special.

I\'ll give this one more thought, perhaps I\'ll be able to give better feedback after getting a little more sleep!

Nice job Rab,

-Eric

hear hear...
or is that
here here??

In both your cases, it\'s more likely to be \"There, there\" as the nurse comes around to to tighten the straps, how do you manage to type with a straitjacket on? :bouncy:

Thanks for the comments and compliments, the fact that it\'s causing disagreement means it qualifies as \"art\" right? :D Runs and hides before someone kills me for mentioning art.

@Badkarma & Valander, cheers guys, thanks for taking the time to look at it and give me feedback.

@Eric, the very fact that you like it is a compliment, your work is incredible and gives me something to aspire to. I was deliberately going for a very subdued colour scheme, trying to give the guy some menace, rather than a brighter, more agressive tone.

Thanks again folks for taking the time to look at it, I feel like I\'m progressing in my painting and it\'s thanks to all the help I get on here.

Cheers - Rab.

Like any good loony I wear my underpants on my head and have an HB pencil jabbed up each nostril, I now find I can type with these pencils as well as any \'two-fingered\' typist:D

Sexy Beast.....

Oooh I like him a lot Rab :D Love the blue colour, so much more interesting than the traditional red or black etc. As for the scratch-built axe, its really well done and both it and the sword are painted really well and contrast with the dark tone on the rest of the model. Well done :D

BTW... I got two pots of Humbrol Acrylic Varnish (no.49) for you today. Let me have your address via PM and I\'ll get them in the post to ya! :D

This sculpt has a real menacing feel to it and your chosen tones do accentuate the sheer darkness of the figure,I love the way the weapons stand out too, perfect accent colour:flip::bouncy:(Don one-Solo mafia)
