I've done a fair bit of research into molecular beam deposition as well as mesoscopic systems studied with AFM and STM techniques (I'm coming towards the end of a PhD in it). Your post draw my attention because it's a blend of two things I love... small scale physics and modelling! Great find and thank you for sharing it.

Oh, I am sorry, I did not though about that the article is in german. Really sorry, but the important thing is really in the youtubevideo shown at the bottom of the article.

sure they wanted only to show... but it is a little crazy too... *smile* I like crazyness in the positive way.

Sorry about that. I fixed my link to go to the National Physical Laboratory page (straight from the horse's mouth so to speak). I don't know why the other one doesn't work.

ha i use a similar microscope, although its sweep electon microscope (SEM) everyday at work. i now have a new mission in life! LOL

no, its actually pollen from flowers, that's the way it look alittlebit zoomed :)
someone once put a tick in the microscope too, cant find that picure though. thank god. thats nothing you do unpunished :D
