Hello everyone! I have decided to get a big more involved in sculpting, as alot of future projects i have planned involves some use of that. I have greenstuff and sculpting tools, but what i need is some better sculpting material than greenstuff. i have heard of miliput, fimo, white suff, brown stuff, and other things. But, which are best?

Also, where can i get hol of some pro art brushes`?

Thanks for all help

Torstein :)

Well brown stuff and white stuff are both made by polymeric and I think are sold in the CMON store. A good hobby shop should carry Milliput which is made in england. Fimo is made in germany and is a ove bakeable clay which you should find in a art or craft store.

First off.. always google first.. you would of found out lots about fimo on the net..and maybe even some mail order sources.

... all the other putties exist, not because they are better but because they have different properties.

Miliput and brown stuff are usually used to make hard objects (armor, weapons, ...). Miliput can be sanded easily.

Fimo doesn\'t cure at room temperature (it needs to be baked) so it gives you more time to work on it.

Green stuff is great to do organic textures (muscles, fur, ...). This is also true about Fimo.

Do take note that Fimo can sound better, but you have to have an oven to use it, and don\'t go using your kitchen oven because if you burn the Fimo, it\'ll give off a toxic gaz that can contaminate your food.

For the little bit of conversion and sculpting work I have done, I find that green stuff is probably the easiest to work with.

Milliput may produce good results, but I found it incredibly hard to work with....

Actually I\'m preatty satisfied with greenstuff.
It\'s the easiest to use and you can mix different proporsions of the 2 components (blue and yellow) to get different gardes of solidity and drying timing (more yellow will be softer and will dry slower, more blue will be harder (good for armour and weapons) and will dry faster).

Besides that have you tried to use also some plasticard to make plates and weapons?

two other products, more similar to Milliput are also out there:

Apoxie Sculpt
this stuff is pretty good. Can buy in large quantities, dries hard etc

Magic Sculp
another good product. Einion uses this to sculpt his 54mm head masters.

it all depends on whether you\'re a pusher or a carver
