Wheres the freaking WOOD ELVES!

I am royally pissed!
As cool as the Ogres are,
I am getting tired of waiting for the Wood Elves!
Like freakin 6 years since we have gotten a new freakin mini?
What about a new army book?
The last one came out in what edition?
I mean come on people!
I havent even seen concept sketches for them or anything!
Has anyone else heard or seen anything (aside from them being last as we have already established!)
Any dates for new minis or atleast some kind of preview?

But in all seriousness, we probably won\'t be seeing any concepts or anything for awhile since they\'re so far off. At least they did some interesting stuff for them in this month\'s white dwarf, those tree forts (heehee) are very cool.

i ahve to say i don\'t like wood elves but it would be nice to see some new figs. they deserve them. maybe then i may buy some. for me the only good figs were the waywatches (ooh and the dragon)

I have to agree, those waywatches are very cool, kinda of look like faramir in the movie. And that dragon is the best GW dragon so far ( not counting the forgeworld one).
The release date is summer 2005, but they already pushed it back once so who knows if they\'re not going to do it again
For the new minis, well we can pray they\'ll one or two for the upcoming campaigne, from what I gathered the wood elfs are suposed to slow down the dwarfs reiforcements to midenheim because they are passing through the WE forest. lol Silly dwarfslol

some good news and some bad news

right the good news. wood elves are being redone this year and by what I have been told they are going to be excellent (even having their own army book) as they are not going to be all poncy elves like they are now they are going to be a bit more evil.

here is the bad news tho.

Thay are not going to be out until december 2004!!!

If they come out in 2004 it\'s great news, just like trevor I thought they would be coming out in summer 2005.
Has for them becoming a bit more evil I find that great, btw is it just me or is the warhammer world becoming darker, they already made the bretonnians a bit more evil and now the wood elfs.

Everything\'s getting darker. There are no heros anymore, just flawed followers of once great followers of ancient heros.

If you ask me there is no way the Wood Elves can get a \"darker\" look unless they lose the war dancers. I understand the grace and elegance it would take to be able to kill someone while doing a piroette, but I will never see it as \"dark.\"

ps. I have heard around summer 2005 also. But let\'s be fair, Wood Elves have gotten their fair share. Afterall, they were the last army released for edition 4! That\'s practically like the first army of edition 5, except that it\'s completely not at all like it. And who said the wood elves need an army? GW should just say the the Wood Elves camoflaged themselves so well that nobody even noticed them until edition 10, and then they were burried deep within the GW forums as an honorable mention on the tail end of a rant thread about how bad the Dark Elves suck. \"The Dark Elves should be better. I should win before I roll my first die. And weren\'t there Wood Elves once? My grandfather mentioned them when I played him last summer.\"

I feel for those Wood Elf people, when I was in my \"gw\" phase (bout 2-3 years ago) people were still complaining about those horrendous archers. Poor Wood Elves...didn\'t you know to pick an army that Gw likes?

Well I just bought this month\'s white dwarf and it says that they are coming out in 2005, Witch actually would be pretty weird because I don\'t think it\'ll take them a year to make that ogre army, and even with the summer archaeon thingy they still should have some time to come out with the Wood elfs. If you look at this year about 4-5 armies came out that\'s not counting the kislev thing.

actually, i thought since there\'s already 2 armies of elves, what about the chaos dwarf army?

Good poin Mouse I strongly agree with you about the chaos dwarf army. GW should host a tournament between the good and chaos armies of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K.

Well, The current rumor is that GW is going to gauge the response for Chaos dwarves based on the hell cannon being released for Archaons seige army.
The crew will be the new chaos dwarves and are supposed to be pretty damn well sculpted(the sculpters put extra time and effort into them so that they may get a chance to do the army).
Theres also the rumor that they are for sure going to be redone, In the book after the woodies, Machines/engines of chaos!
That will contain mostly war machines and constructs ie. golems !!!

But I swear on all that is holy if the wood elves get shelved again for any reason GW will be no more!

I really hope they do for the wood elves what they\'ve done for the Bretonnians, ie make a really cool characterful army, with some great new minis.

Most Bretonian players don\'t like what they did with the Bretonian fluff and the new minis are really hit or miss. Mostly miss. I wish they would put the perry twins back on that line rather than their flunkies.
