Hi All

I'm looking at getting into NMM and was after any recommendations of minis to practice on. You know ones with long straight swords etc.

Any ideas?

Cheers

I've found some space marine models good for practices as they have faily simple shapes to work with NMM wise. GW high elves look nice to do NMM on aswell. Lots of swords and armour to play with.

basically any model that has lots of armor on it....

one word of advice, I am going through the crazy path of NMM right now, i'm almost there...

so if you every feel really frustrated, like I did several days ago, keep going, say to yourself, "I will eventually get it" and just keep striving to get that technique down.

Also what I have been doing is a HUGE amount of research on the internet, go on google and type in "how to paint NMM," or something else like that.

Hope that helps, give us some pics so we can tell you what your doing wrong, and how you can fix it!!!

Thanks all, will definitely post some picks when I get round to it. I'm in the process of moving house so it may take a while.

I'm liking the look of some of the Warhammer High Elves hero's however they are pretty expensive. Are there any others that people have found to be easy to do so NMM?

Try and pickup some plastic minis. The Island of Blood high elves are cheap and you should be able to nab singles for next to nothing. Then paint, strip and repaint the bugger until you're happy with how he looks.

the 40mm hasslefree Tiriel is great for this. All armor and a sword.
The 28mm versions are also great for practicing NMM. And is a great figure to boot.

You can start on all the free extras you have lying around. We all have hundreds of leftovers don't we?

Helmet heads, grenades, rockets, guns, swords, spears, daggers, shields. When you're done, you've got a nice weapon rack or base decoration or something cool to use at a later date (or just strip and repaint them). Once you understand the technique on a simpler items like a sword or gun, it will be much easier to take on a fully armoured figure.
