White Dwarf Minis

Anyone else snag the Terminator and Nob out of White Dwarf? I think they\'re pretty sharp looking figures, especially for being 3-piecers. Makes me that much more anxious to get my grubby fingers on that new starter box.

I painted up the Nob for fun, and as an addition to my slowly expanding Bad Moon army.

Has anyone painted up either of their figures yet? If so, share them! The more, the merrier!

I prepared & primed mine yesterday, and if i work at my usual pace i might have them finished by christmas lol

I dont usually buy WD but i got this one to check these minis out. Having never painted either a termi or a 40K orc i think its cool to be able to have a go at them without taking the plunge & buying a whole box.

For me its £4 well spent :)

Got mine and painted the Terminator as a test piece for a new Crimson Fists army. Didn\'t come out too bad but the varnish did weird things to the result. Testors Dullcote but it\'s got too much sheen on it. I think it\'s mainly because I didn\'t go for heavy contrasts and the colours are so dark.

So, I think for the actual army I\'ll just not bother with varnish. It looks as though I\'m going 100% plastic so the lack of varnish shouldn\'t hurt.

Oh, and here\'s the pic. Looks a little nicer in real life but looked a lot nicer before the varnish.

Well, ive now started painting my orc, thats going ok but im at a loss as to which chapter to do my terminator. I dont play 40k & dont know all that much about the \'fluff\' either. Would i be right in saying that some chapters dont use terminators? (im sure i read that somewhere) I was thinking of making it a Black Templar, but is this model suitable?

SJB did you use midnight blue as your base coat? Ive had a terrible time with that color running when I spray it with testors dullcote and its the only color Ive had the issue with.

Funny you should mention that with midnight blue, I used it for washes when I painted Steve\'s Anastasia and it ran like hell when hit with the dullcote so much so that the stars and nmm banding on the cloak had to be redone and then re-sprayed.

Normally the first company of every chapter consists of all Terminator armor. I think some chapters may be a bit different. Black Templars have terminators so you could do that scheme if you want.

Your terminator looks great SJB. An army of those will look killer!

Byronic, my yellow recipe is:
-Basecoat Skull White (important to get it even. I primed the model black)
-Paint Golden Yellow. Do a couple thin layers, as yellow tends to be very thick no matter how much you thin it.
-Shade with Fiery Orange (I thinned it a lot and washed it on the arm bands, and on the shoulder pad rivets.
-Highlight with Sunburst Yellow. Then Add some Skull White to that and highlight again.

-Matt

Nope. Base was Mordian Blue followed by two heavy washes of Asurman Blue. The dullcote might have had a weird time with that. But recoating didn\'t help.

I know what you mean about the midnight blue though. I used it as the base on an Ultramarine once and when I varnished it degraded and turned his white Ultra symbol pink :)
