Anyone notice that there weren\'t any painting articles in the current issue? Maybe GW is starting to feel the loss of Tammy.

Actually I saw there were two articles. A Brettonian one and LOTR one. The LOTR was kind of short and the Brettonian one didn\'t seem as good as past articles. I don\'t suppose you\'ve heard about GW and Gencon have you Supervike?

What about the one by Matt Parkes?

That was f***ing amazing! One of the best they\'ve ever had! I couldn\'t beleive the kind of detail he put onto that mini, and the tips given were great.

really?

Funny, I thought all those shots of kids yelling in the WD mags were just staged, you know, so it looks like they are really really enjoying themselves.

So maybe thats what happens. The poor kids are having so much fun that they begin uncontrollably screaming \"WAAAAARRRRGGG\" and such

lollol

Another funny thing I noticed in many of those \'yelling photos\' is that invariably there seems to be parent, or some other more reserved person in the photo with a \"what the hell is going on\" look on their face. I guess little things like that really crack me up.:D

I was once in one of those pics!

It was a few years ago at GD Baltimore. I only knew I was in it a ages later when I looked in my white dwarf and 2003 gamesday guide.

By the way Supervike, it\'s the GW organizers who cajole everyone into doing those infernal WAAAGGHHs, by making the loudnessof them determine who goes first in a game, who wins a prize etc.

It\'s sort of a nerd empowerment ritual lol

Another James?

We could be, like, twins! maybe...

Hehe, what makes me laugh even more than the disgruntled and confused parents who attend it, are passers by who are even more confused! I remember going to a battle event at games store, and the GW representative made us chant warcry\'s in unison for our sides. I started laughing so hard when I saw two elderly women passing by the open door, suddenly surprised by a wailing \"Blood for the blood god! Skulls for the skull throne of Khorne!!!!\". lol

Hah! That was the first guy I noticed, too. It also started me thinking about the GT I attended in Seattle last weekend and everyone was pretty noisy (Although it wasn\'t as bad as last year, when all of fantasy and most of 40k was crammed into one conferance hall at a hotel), and there weren\'t any GW people encouraging people to be noisy or anything--no reward for it, so far as I could tell (except, I suppose, so far as the enthusiasm made your opponent think you were a good sportsman..).

Anyway, part of it might just be the game itself. There\'s something really satisfying about _really_ good rolls that just mow through your opponent. And who can resist yelping when someone does exactly that to you? ;)

On the last day, Sunday, there was a comic book convention at the sea hawks stadium and I saw a fair number of people wandering around carrying bags that clearly marked them as comic-book people. They usually looked baffled or confused, although some of them seemed right at home (they were probably other lackeys like myself who had made a side-trip to the comic book convention).

I also saw one group of unfortunates who accidently came in our entrance instead of the comic-book entrance. They looked very confused and left quickly. :)
