White Dwarf Quality Control

Got the new WD through the door today (No 335) as i\'m briefly looking through it and noticed one of the pages was in Italian lol

And in last months the colour swatchs on the paint masterclass bit were all in greyscale.

Is it just some that have got this? Or have all WD\'s got the Italian page.

They really need to up their proofreading skills.

Yep, they all have this, and is done deliberatley in homage to white dwarf being available in Italy this month!

Its easy enough to translate, which is why it was the painting masterclass page that was done instead of a long worded article which would have proven more difficult to translate, but if it really bothers you that much stores shall be receiving a PDF to issue to customers who want the page in english, just pop down to your local GW and ask if they have them yet.

Yea I heard now that pretty much everywhere has the English WD now. Alot of staff were got rid of over in Oz apparently.

I don\'t care that much lol plus I can pretty much read it anyway. I just thought it was quite funny lol

Give me your address and I\'ll pass on your complaints to them. Then they can send goodwill ambassador Christian Byrne to straight up murder your ass. He\'s an Antipodean Killing Machine.

Hmm I guess we get a different WD in OZ but they did close down the OZ production company and now print it in UK.

Come on now..Ive been buying WD magazine for almost 20 years and Ive rarely seen a miss print or a mix up..I think thats pretty good performance if you ask me..on the other hand I can\'t tell you how many novels Ive bought from major publihsers that have had reprinted chapters, pages stuck to gether with glue.. blurry printing..you name it. Its all done electronically.. hell had it been a legitimate mistake it might not even have been GW WD staf fault..could of been the printers cock up..

I really think some of you reach to find something to bitch about this company on a weekly if not daily basis..if you hate them so much quit buying their products and move on.. Please..do us all a favor.

For one, I wasn\'t bitching; I even stated I wasn\'t that bothered and found it quite funny.

But when entire pages have something wrong on a monthly basis in a magazine (which isn\'t evident here, due to the Italian being on purpose) then there IS something wrong with QC.
Magazines are alot more expensive to print than novels, and QC is alot tighter, due to the fact that if there is a big screw up deadlines can be put right off, which is fine in most cases for novels; but not magazines. As they pretty much go to print one or two days before distribution.

I buy several other magazine on a monthly basis and if they developed recurring problems, yes, I would \'bitch\' about it, simply because they are expensive, and I enjoy reading them. (Though I disagree with MacWorld getting rid of Andy Ihnatko\'s monthly column lol now I COULD bitch about that!)
They become alot harder to read when they are in a different language. ;)

The decision not to include my Skaven Giant from GD must have been a mistake! Curse that quality control! lol

I wasn\'t bitching, either. I was curious about it. Hell, I didn\'t even notice those grey swatches until Matty posted here. lol

In fact, I haven\'t bitched much at all about GW. I think I may have complained a little about more price hikes, and about that film that was being made but can\'t be released, but that\'s about it.

Yep page 95 was a good laugh, and thanks to CMON I was able to understand the Italian, which was scary.

My local store manager was kinda surprised by it, but not as much as when Fran was testing a Vortex Grenade Template as a prosthetic. First time ever that Brian was stuck for words!

Okay, that explains the Italian part (assuming you\'re not making fun of us ;)) ; but what about the grey swatches?
Production problem: my guess is someone forgot to convert them to CMYK mode from RGB.

No, I think dragons talking about me here, and yeah, maybe I am looking for things to bitch about now, but, for the most part, I dont have to go too far to fin anything.

Got a copy of imperial armour 2 a while back, in that big lot of stuff I got, and theres something on nearly every page, either a spelling mistake, spaces missing, extra letters etc.

Now, its one thing from a magazine, or a novel, but this is a huge, very expensive hardback book.

The other gripe about that thing is all the pictures are in black and white, which kind of ripped my shit when I bought it, cause I dont see much point in putting pictures of figures in, if you cant see anything on them.

And yeah, I have gotten over it, I am moving on, doesnt mean Im not gonna hold a grudge.
