what a thread....black or white or gray then someone hijacked it deciding on the dinner menu....lol

do what you feel its right.

different basecoat will yield different results.

a \"dark\" figure works well with black undercoat.
a \"light\" figure works well with white undercoat.
black is useful to cover all the deep crevasses
white is useful for allowing the colours to stand out

why, for a dragon, it has those hateful deep crevasses that looks terrible if not properly filled up.
so, what not base with a thin spread of black then highlight with white first (can use watered down white primer and drybrush it over the dragon...doesn\'t matter if its messy as long as it is thin and smooth) before applying your colours. This helps to pick out your details (black tends to make me guess what the hell those thingies are on the mini - eg. I was painting chameleon skinks from GW and it took me a while to figure out those thingies carried by those lizards are FROGS!!!:mad: and that\'s after i painted them brown...okie finn....i digress as badly as you) and also create a better highlight and shades.
