white spirit vs. paint?

Hi everyone, I messed up a paintjob so I want to strip the metal mini with white spirit. However, does this even remove the paint ( GW normal and foundation paints) and if so, does this also remove the spraypaint- basecoat?

Thanks!

Unfortunately it will pretty much strip the whole lot...if the white spirit you are talking about is the same here in Oz.... that is Turps.

Ive found it kind of depends on how strong the turps is compared to the thickness of the undercoat.

Ive had a few come out completely bare metal, and some its taken the paint off, and left the under complete.

But, if your also after a good cheap drink, a loaf of bread to strain and your off.:D

White spirit/mineral spirit should have no effect on acrylic or vinyl paints.

I\'ve used a spirit-dampened brush to wipe off oil paint from acrylics many times and other than the friction against the surface there was no problem.

Use \"easy off\" low odor or much better a cleaing product called \"the duke\" it is non toxic and enviro friendly. we have it hear in Canada but not sure if they have it where you are from. Leave the figure submerged in undiluted Duke for two or three days then see how it is doing. The fresher the paint the quicker it will come off. I swear by this stuff.

acetone
