Who made this? - ID thread for miniatures

Any idea who this vampire is from? He had a broccolli base and i thought he was a 25mm Reaper, but I couldn't find him on their catalog. Another posibility was a licensed Ravenloft set, but I couldn't find him in the usual suspect companies.

I thought he came with some transitional humanoid/bat forms, but I couldn't find them in the pile of minis--so I could be imagining that part. (Maybe I need to paint 50 mini's a year and only buy 3 instead of the other way around. That way I may remember what I own! :)).

Edit: thanks to DeafNala recognizing this as a WereBat, I was able to narrow my search and confirm he was part of a Ral Partha WereBat blister for Ravenloft containing three werebat forms and this werebat master.

Who makes this mini and what is it called? At first I thought it would be a medusa but there are no snakes on her head.

I bought one of this and was very disappointed with the overall quality.
Very thin and fragile, bends (and snaps) really easily and is difficult to assemble, being pinning almost impossible.

It seems much better on the pic than in real life...

Yep, even Jarhead seemed to have problems with this one. He said the arms were constantly coming off the mini and are nearly impossible to pin. Check on MASSIVE VOODOO for more infos!

Many thanks for the link.
It would be really helpful to know how he fixed the problem and had those f@#!%#g arms reamain in their place!

I am just thinking about throwing the model into my bits box, or maybe I'll try to convert it to something more stable by removing original arms and changing them with something else.
I'm really disappointed, because the tail is really detailed and well done!

B.t.w., I have several other Helldorado figures and I must complain that all them are a bit fragile and prone to bend / snap, and really difficult to keep assembled if you use them for gaming. They are a bit "thin", IMHO.

I don't know how he fixed it, but a good superglue + pinning did the trick for me. It survived quite a few trips to gaming without a problem.

Pinning the arms is not easy, but if you ever tried the Rackham Cynwalls then it's not the worst either.

I have fixed the lower arms, but have great problems with upper two.

Never tried Cynwalls, but I will try to find a solution for this miniature.

I would recommend Guitar wire.
Its tough and you can drill and secure with longer lengths than the traditional paper clip.
I've recently repaired the staff on my Nurgle PlagueLord using a steel E string with a diameter of less than 0.09mm.
If you don't know anyone with a guitar drop me a PM as I've ended up with a lot of spares.

Many thanks, I can manage to find some guitar wire and give a try to this method.
I never heard about it, and I think it can be useful in many situations when traditional pinning is impossible.

Dragonsreach how much is a £100.00 compared to US dollar? What is your monetary sigh/symbol? Is it a "pound"? Do you still paint for others?
Where did you get the mini for your "The Purple Orchid"? She's on your "reverse alchemy" page.
Also I was going to message you but I can't find the option. I'm probably just overlooking something obvious right? I don't know anyone with a guitar but there's a music store not far from here. What would you suggest?
I made the mistake of buying one of those "Helldorado - Kuan Yin" before I got any replies about it being so bad. I'm sure I'll regret it. It should be here tomarrow or thursday I hope.
I have had no experience with pinning and I hate puting together metal minis. I can never get them to glue together. Don't know why but I just can't.

@ Eyebreaker: Yeah, you got it right. It's the pound symbol. At today's rate, a hundred pounds is about $157 USD (http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/).

In terms of putting together metal figs, do a search here for 'preparation of miniatures' or something similar. There's plenty of information on that. If your figs aren't staying glued, you might not have washed out all the release chemicals, so the glue might not be binding. When all else fails, try an epoxy glue.

@gohkm: I tried a search for "preperation of miniatures", "preperation" & "prep". The only thing I found was a bunch of minis painted years ago. Looked like they were fro some sort of contest?
"might not have washed out all the release chemicals"? I didn't know about that. What should I do? / How do you prep them?
Wouldn't an epoxy be messy?

eyebreaker;
To contact someone via PM (personal message) click on their name at the left hand side.
You'll see an option to send message.
if you look to the top of the screen you should see a sign with NOTIFICATIONS and a number click on it to get access to your Personal messages.
Using PM means we don't clutter up the threads. :)

@ Eyebreaker:

Sorry, mate, my bad. Just went through the articles quite briefly and didn't see one on prep.

Anyway, a quick Google: http://muraminiatures.com/beginners-guide-to-preparing-miniatures.html. The concepts in there are sound basics.

Also: http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1589-joint-pinning-made-easy.

If you are able to get your hands on a power tool (I use a Dremel Stylus), using a 0.1mm drill bit will make your life in pinning so much easier. Failing that, it's nothing a liberal application of elbow grease with a pin vise won't fix.
