who wants to join my painting team

i had a weird idea the other day, but this one is much more possible.

basically as many as people get together to form a painting community wher they learn off each other and encourage each other to enter competitions and such like. I am fed up with not being able to see painted minis in the flesh, and i am sick of Coolminiornot.com and the photoshopped stuff there.

so what i am proposing is to start a painting group/team where we all get the chance to meet up once every blue moon (hopefully every month or so) to discuss what we are painting and how to improve and share techiniques...etc.

now i am based in south london so i guess this would limit it to people who are in M25 range and who can get into central london fairly easily.

i am not fussed about your painting level, just that you want to share knowledge and accept criticism. and it would be cool if we could all go to some sort of convention as a group that would be cool.

bloody hel, your a bit far north for this! then again it does only takr 2hr 45 mins to get from newcastle to kings cross (done it many a time)

anyway this is a venture to allow us to see decently painted stuff for real....with no photoshopping whatsoever.!!!!

Good idea. I\'m having the same but for my area..

..and the offhand remark about photoshop. I think there are far fewer that cheats than you might think. Drop me a PM if you want to discuss it (don\'t want to hijack this thread).

Having been a member of historical modelling \"clubs\" (and being the youngest by several decades even with me being 30 something.......) this sounds like a refreshing change.

i think this is a great idea, a great chance too meet up, paint and socialise.

why not just meet up say every quarter of the year, like at someones house or something along that line and we can get too see everyones work, have a paint and a socialise and stuff and get some help and advice in person. it would be quite alot of fun and im sure most of you wouldnt mind driving / taking the train for a few hours once a quarter, not like its every week.

if you were driving you could also pick others up on your way or something like that

alot off possibilities and a really great idea if we could sort it out.

@Medved, nothing beats actually painting with another painter. Especially if they are better than you. Great way to learn/share/improve.

In it\'s essence, that is what CMON is: a large community of painters that are sharing knowledge & techniques to improve. Don\'t belive it? Look at any major painting contest and see what percent of the top artists are CMON\'ers. No photoshop there, just top painters and real minis.

But if you really are sick of CMON, then nobody is forcing you to be here.

i am sorry to all the people who took offence at the photshopped comment. i enjoy checking out the well painted minis on this site, but long to see well painted minis in the flesh.

yes we are a big group of painters here, but often there are a few hundred miles/oceans/border crossings....... between the top guys.

there are some people who paint amazing minis here, but can\'t present them online for toffee, i want to be able to see that wonderful work that can\'t be photographed, turn mins around and see why NMM looks weird from a certain angle.

central london was the idea, so that we could all visit a museum or gallery to get some culture and inspiration (a bit like Jeremie Bonamant\'s little get togethers)
