So, is there demand for an \"Up North\" group?

p.s Medved, I for one knew you were joking (I\'m sure all the others did too mind!), but still, we all know that a lot of the pics look better than the actual minis, and a lot of the minis look better than the actual pics (grrr, darn those tricky photographers!), so your point still stands.

Imagine how I feel up north... I think between here and the border, I could find maybe a dozen of painter that care more about the mini than it\'s stats :(

Stu, is this some kind of challenge?

There isnt enough room in minipainting for another paintslave... there is already me and my 3 guys, a Paintslave actually on CMoN, and the loose term used for all the hasslefree painters. To crown yourelf king is just plain rude!

i\'d be interested, but i find getting time off from work really difficult (and i work a lot of weekends).

i agree that it would be nice to see some of them in real life. it suprised me when i went to gd last year and saw some in real life

i think a north west uk painting thing would be good.

i have a few mates in the bolton area who are interested on getting together every now and then to pass on tips and show what they have been working on.

Bit too far for me, shame as it sounds cool.

Klute........the Real King of the Paintslaves......though I bow down to OH Blessed Lord on High Master Peter Bell.......who is far too excellent to be a simple king and is the one who actually coined the term paintslave in the beginning.

Chris (Generaulpolaxe) and I have been discussing this at my house over this weekend.

While the idea of \"Teams\" isn\'t one that really sits well for me (Competition painting is after all an individual pastime) the concept of \'Coffee Klatch\'s\' to discuss painting and throw ideas around is very appealing.
Chris brought some of his figures around and we had a good old natter about the various things. His work is very good! :wow: In some cases excellent!

We intend to arrange a group to get together every now and then, mostly the people around Bolton, to try to improve our painting in general. But if you are within easy travel of this area please feel free to drop me a line and I\'ll give you directions when something is organised.

I\'d suggest that if there are a few people in the same locality, do the same, it\'s amasing what you can pick up with simple comments. Both Chris and I had D\'oh moments talking to each other. lol

Mike I would love to get together you are a good distance from me but I can do Stockport in just over the hour (I know I spent months doing it on the West Coast Mainline Modernisation scheme) I tried to get something going like this a long time ago around here but had no real interest so I do not mind travelling to either end of the country.

what Mike is talking about is essentially what i am getting at too. the idea of a Team is secondary. so far i have had 6 replies, so if there is anybody else who would like to meet up down south then drop me a pm and i\'ll send you my e-mail.
