Until you start checking Biden\'s \'facts\'.

\"McCain voted for the bailout, but Obama didn\'t.\"

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14196.html

Not what the record shows.

In fact, every time she called him on \"looking back and blaming Bush\" he would turn very red - hair plugs and all.

Sorry, lying loser.

I don\'t think there was a clear winner it was more of a tie if you ask me.

Palin may have come out slightly on top because she did much better than expected and didn\'t have the deer in the head lights look she did on a couple of the interviews.

You need a third option, Tie.

That\'s the problem with these debates. People already have made up their minds BEFORE the debate, so no one is really being open minded.

There was a whole litany of errors and \'tricky\' semantics from both sides, so neither is completely telling the whole story.

Palin was obviously nervous, and is not the slick polished politician that Joe Biden is.

She is much more charming and \'main street\', and he comes across as something of a used car salesman.

One the one hand, I think choosing Palin was McCains best move in the campaign so far. It\'s focused attention on her and left McCains faults out of the spotlight. I think it is what has kept him in the race so far.

But, on the other hand, while her downhomeness is charming, she really looked out of her element in the debate.

I can\'t say I totally trust Biden, it\'s that used car salesman vibe, but he does seem to know what he was talking about. He understands the issues. I\'m not convinced Palin does.

I LIKE Palin much more, her charisma is fantastic....But Biden won.

I think the winners were the american people. You just can\'t buy that kind of
entertainment. Unless you have 700 billion laying about...

For my money it was Palin in a landslide.

Biden and Obama, as well as McCain, all represent the business as usual, good ole boys, inner beltway politics that have plagued Washington for the past several decades. Much like Nero, both parties have fiddled while the good old US has burned. Palin is the only one of the four that is not \"connected\" and represents real change, not the whitewash change that Obama preaches but never specifies. Still waiting for an honest explanation from him as to how he could attend a church where racist hate is preached yet he never heard it. Yeah I was once at a Hitler rally, thought it was the Octoberfest, right..

The way I look at it is like this. McCain dead of a heart attack before his term is up and Caribou Barbie takes over the reigns as the Commander in Chief. I have no problem with a woman president. I would vote MILF over cankles anyday!:D

To me, Palin came off as a completely naive little girl from some backwater town.

She did have great debating skills, if you\'re impressed with misnaming the general in Afghanistan (\"McClellan?\" That was a Civil War general), constant repetition of \"McCain\'s a Maverick\", continually playing cute when she didn\'t have any answer to the question and using annoying colloquialisms (made it a drinking game to take a shot whenever she said \"Main Street\"--was pretty hammered by end of debate).

Both candidates stretched the truth at times--it\'s part of the game. However, I felt that Biden could at least do the job as VP (and even knew what the Constitutional definition of that job was, unlike Palin), and could take on the duties of Pres if something horrible happened and Obama was assassinated or something. I don\'t think Palin could find her way out of a large shopping mall, much less lead the country if McCain croaked.

And thus ends my first, and last, post on politics at CMoN. I usually don\'t let myself get into these topics, but I\'m bored at work, so... ;)

It\'s funny that you would characterize Palin and naive and backwater. I think the way you express her rural and unpolished approach shows your bias in the words you have chosen. She is no where as strong a speaker as Biden but her thoughts and policies do have merit. To me it all comes down to honesty, I know a word seldom associated with anything in the political arena. What I saw when I watch Palin in the debate was someone who answered the questions honestly and upfront. Biden has always reminded me of a used car salesman, someone who would say and do just about anything to sell you on something. Joe Biden may be a good man, heck so may Barack Obama but tell me what have either of those two actually accomplished in their political careers? Both hold the distinction of being members of the lowest rated congress in American history. Name one bill that either of these men have written or championed. Name one political accomplishment that either of those two have in their credit.

Yes Sarah Palin may be only a PTA mom who once was mayor then became a governor of a states. I dont know about you but in my book this counts for actually accomplishing something. She challenged the oil companies and had some of their overflowing wealth redistributed to her constituents. She ran her state all by her self, the assertion she couldnt find her way out of a large shopping mall is absurd and demeaning.

Nice slam on the whole boob thing Darklord. Way to keep the whole sexism thing out of this and focus on the facts. When I used the terms earlier I was making light of what the liberal press have said about the competent woman. Way to focus on her hooters, heck she could be Obama\'s Secretary of the Interior right, after all I am sure she knows how to run a vacuum and use the washer. Next time you have a thought, let it go...

Well, she did better than I expected, after seeing the Couric interview disasters. Her fumbling of some key questions on a number of important topics worries me more than anything else. Biden seems to know his stuff at least.

I was impressed with the level of civility in the VP debate compared to the first Presidential debate.

The interviews were edited...debates were live.

I couldn\'t be bothered to watch. Biden is just another old white guy and Palin?........I swear the republicans got together with headshots of every female senator and govoner in the country, spread them out and looked at them. They saw Palin and said, \"She\'s cute! We\'ll have her!\" No research or anything.

Besides, I know who I\'m voting for already. I don\'t need to watch them \"debate\" to make up my mind.

Valander[/i] I felt that Biden could at least do the job as VP (and even knew what the Constitutional definition of that job was said:
And this from a lawyer, who\'s been in the congress longer than I\'ve been alive. tsk, tsk...
In reality though, if Mr. Biden actually read the constitution he nor Mr. Obama would be making the promises they are making as they do not have the Constitutional authority to do what they say they want.
If you look at Amendment Ten in the bill of rights any new powers and freedoms are expressly given to the States or the people. Constitutionally the Federal government has very limited powers and can not get more powers unless the Constitution is amended. In other words, both parties have been wiping their asses on the Constitution for decades. Biden especially has no right to bring it up in an effort to win points.
Senator Tom Coburn sums it up eloquently here.

As to Palin\'s experience, well, DC\'s got craploads of experience and it\'s directly responsible for the Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac Economic Meltdown.
Even Bill Clinton blames the Dems.
