Ah, that\'s the beauty of i, Faye. You didn\'t need to understand BME (Big Mean Elf, by the way) - At least not in a literal way. It was the spirit of his posts! Either you grokked it or you didn\'t. Honestly, I actually do miss the big guy. You have to admit, he added spice and flavor to the forums.

One nevers knows when or where he might drop in and with what little tidbits of wisdom. Running a relatively close second, i\'d go with -- Barkel -- similar to the above reasoning.

I never knew the BME, but after reading that last post, I\'m not certain I would have understood him.

I read several of his entries into the threads and to be honest I haven\'t got a clue what he was on about. It got to the point where I would skip his entries and go to the next poster as too much of it was indecipherable.
As someone who loves the capabilty of the English language, I found that it was just annoying.
I have no real doubt that he was an \'OK\' guy, just the \"Universal Translator\" has not been invented yet.

I\'m not sure a universal translator would help. If it\'s gibberish going in, wouldn\'t it still be gibberish coming out?

BME was/is an interesting contributor who got himself banned for ....? an inability to resist retaliation......?
Basically, Chern Ann has always run a tight ship here. You simply cannot get away with really personal insults. BME violated this rule once and was banned. A poll of members decided (on a split decision) to let him re-join if he refrained from this behaviour. BME found that hard to do and thus he was banned from the forums.
I suspect that for every person who found his comments valuable, at least ten were annoyed.
It is very easy to view a person\'s contributions to the forums and, for those that are interested, just do a search.
I had a lot of time for BME, but he was his own worst enemy...

BME was banned for a couple of reasons - there is an entire thread dealing with it somewhere, but what it basically came down to was he was told to lay off the attacks against other posters agreed to and then didnt.

There were a few rules BME broke and even after a second chance, still flaunted the rules.

I thought he was a likeable sort of fellow, a bit gruff, and hard to follow, but I remember he PM me a few times, and was very \'normal and decent\' on those occasions.

He was a character!
