why are Gw washes shiney

GW washes/Ink contain a small amount of Shellac, hence both the awful taste and the Shine.

I only use inks for metallics. For all the other things I use watered down paint.
Granted, but you ARE supposed to lick your brushes while painting so a little bit of paint ingestion is inevitable. :innocent:
Thus, taste is an important factor! Personally, I\'m very fond of the dark brown paints in the VMC range. Tamiya Clear Red also has a very pleasant taste, as it is alcohol based.

I don\'t use it very much though, so I feel perfectly safe!
As has been stated Vallejo Model Colour White. (Quite a Vanilla-like Flavour).
Next Burnt Seinna.
Worst taste = GW Foundation Paints.
P3 paints taste like the old GW paints, when they had flip lids back in the day. Makes me remember when i was but 10 and used to paint all my mates models.
But I agree with Ritual browns seem to have the best taste across all ranges. And eating TCR! Are you mad man! Either that or you have developed some sort of resistance to toxins in paints.

Having only recently taken up brush-licking I have a limited experience of their tastes. All I can say is of all the metallics that GW sell, boltgun metal seems the best.
On another note, I have a question related to washes. I\'ve read several different methods of keeping the wash in the recess areas and to avoid the tide lines etc, so I wondered what are the merits of each method?

I\'m just going to have to start licking my brush. I have a real aversion to putting non-food items in my mouth, so this may be a difficult habit to pick up.
I know somebody is really going to twist that around, but I can\'t find any way to say it so that SOMEBODY won\'t. So be it!lol

these days I put a lot less paint on the brush, paint more watered down, and keep a second brush handy for feathering the edges. I hardly ever use inks any more. Keeps the rings away most of the time...
Reaper paints are not unpleasant tasting.
