There was a film in the works, but it appears to have been canned. However, HBO is apparently working on a series, with each issue of the comic as an episode of the series.
For comic book movies, you have to take the good with the bad, and you have to realize that they\'re not made necessarily for fans of the comic.
I think dismissing all of them as crap is a mistake, though. The Spidey series, the first couple of X-Men for instance, I think were well done and as faithful to the comics as can be expected. Someone else brought up Road to Perdition and History of Violence which I think are two excellent examples of lesser known comics that made really good movies. Of course for every good one there are two or three bad ones - FF, The Crow sequels, The Punisher (the Lundgren one...Dolph has the look of Frank Castle more than Thomas Jane but may actually be a worse actor than Nic Cage IMO, and that\'s saying a LOT).I\'m interested to see how the Iron Man movie works out - Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark...potential for both greatness and disaster. lol

True. I forgot about Sin City and Batman Begins. Both are good solid examles that Hollywood should follow.
I also forgot about 300.
I want a Shazam movie. But I am afraid they would make Billt too much like a kid and it will be G rated.

Spiderman and Spiderman 2 were excellent squire. That\'s from a non-comic reading background though
I tell you what I liked was that film Unbreakable with Bruce Willy in it. That was a bit a gem of a movie. Go Willy!
Constantine was only decent at best, they took some of the best moments from the different stories and that made it pretty cool - but I think it sucked that they made him american, he has to be a sick guy living in a real british setting, where did all the pints and old folklore go.
Spiderman had it\'s moments but I hate it when the moviecompanies haven\'t got the guts to kill of the right people (his first girlfreind).
Personally I think Hellboy was excellent done and resonally tru to the comics.
At first a Preacher adaption sounds coll, but I\'m afraid they won\'t go all the way anyway if it\'s to be made in america, can\'t even remotely insult anyone there - a fat idiot decendant of JC himself anyone, a guy called arseface listening to judas priests, a guy whose head is made to look like a dick - nah best it ain\'t done yet :twisted:

I actually think that if Preacher is ever going to be done right it is as an HBO miniseries. They don\'t exactly pull punches with the stuff they do and the quality tends to be right up there.

I used to get really excited when a comic book movie was announced, but not so much anymore.
I enjoyed: The Spiderman movies (can overlook the organic web shooters), Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, Hellboy, Daredevil, 300, LXG, X-Men United, Constantine, and the Blade Series.
Did not enjoy: X-Men, X-Men - The Last Stand, the rest of the Batman movies, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk.
I\'ll rent Ghost Rider, maybe give Iron Man a chance, will probably go see Watchmen in the theater if it is ever released.

I was never a comic collector. I like to read the occasional grafic novel at the library.
However, I enjoy the fantasy element and that\'s why I like these movies.
But I also am more critical than I used to be.
I say this just to point out that I\'m not a comic fanboy and I have a limited background - I\'d never heard of Hellboy before the movie for instance, and I loved the movie.
I think it helps to go into it without the background. I liked both Spiderman movies and had only a minimal idea of the Spiderman story.
However, even knowing only that Superman is a super-powered guy trying to fit in in a normal world while occasionally stopping villains does not make SupermanV a good movie. Sometimes a crappy movie is just a crappy movie.
I don\'t believe it\'s anything to do with the genre in other words. People can make good movies or bad movies out of anything. We just have certain expectations of a comic adaptation that we don\'t have of, say, a romantic comedy.

I suppose you talk about Galactus, the world eater. He is an entity that... well, eats worlds. Without giving away too much: He is more or less a personified force of nature. He/It needs the energy he converts planets into to live. When there are no more planets, he will die along with the universe and through his death create a new universe that is infintely better than the current one.
Of course very few people want their planet eaten
Galactus has a herald that scouts planets for him and informs the population that they are doomed. Silver Surfer should be his best-known herald.
Galactus controls the power cosmic and therefore has basically divine power.

I have watched all the X-Men movies... I liked the first two, the third one was kinda \"meh\" and did not feel right to me. Also Juggernaut was too small and a mutant.
Sin City, loved it. Great style, very well done, the plot worked - good movie!
Hellboy was good, but then again I did not read the comics.
I\'ve never seen Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk. Maybe I should look for the DVDs.
You guys know which comic would probably work really well for hollywood? Deadpool. It has everything a basic hollywood movie needs: A gunslinging, insane badass full of inner turmoil who constantly spouts one-liners and taunts pretty much everybody. Several love interests, a dark past, Weasel as a sidekick, Blind Al is a great character with an interesting connection to Wade. You can use pretty much any super hero in the film (I want The Taskmaster in it!) and can alternate between dark gothic thingy, light-hearted fun, impressive fights and even serious plot.
Man, I love Deadpool.

Who was our resident movie trivia expert?
A while back someone was doing movie trivia and the guy knew TONS of stuff.
Perhaps he can give us a list of all cinematic versions of comic books (as opposed to made for TV stuff like the Captain America movie).
And I mean every one, including \"Richie Rich\" and \"Barbarella\".
p.s. I kinda enjoyed the Phantom and the Shadow too.

Exactly the problem. Juggernaut isn\'t \'funny\' or \'witty\' and his \'power\' wouldn\'t be cut off by the little kid cause he isn\'t a mutant.
Whoever allowed \"I\'m the Juggernaut, bitch\" into the movie should be drawn and quartered.My biggest problem with that movie was the X-Men injecting Magneto with the cure - granted it has been a long time since I read an X-book (with the exception of the current Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon) but I couldn\'t see them EVER doing that to another mutant.
