I tend to do that, but then I say, \"Ok, just one more.\" Click. \"Ok, this time I really mean it, only more more.\" Click. And on and on.lol

I\'ll lend some of my thoughts on this, culled from my own experience.

When I come across a truly horrid image (3\'s, etc) I usually just close the window rather than vote it down further. Or I close it to remove such a sight from view of my eyes. And thus ends my random bouncing from image to image.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, when I come across an amazing image (9.0+) that has thousands of votes, I don\'t bother voting as a single vote at that point really doesn\'t do much beyond adding to the vote tally. I\'ll pause to wipe the drool away, then close the window. And thus ends my random bouncing from image to image.

Otherwise, if I see an image that seems to be unfairly low in score, I\'ll vote. If I see an image that seems to have an unfairly high score, I\'ll vote. If an image strikes me in some manner, or makes me pause, or makes me think however briefly, I\'ll vote. All of these cases, I dwell on the figure and try to give it a fair rating.

Even if the image is mediocre, I\'ll vote just to move on to the next one, but there\'s very little in the way of actual critique in such a vote.

I don\'t think I\'ve ever given a 1, however, and I only rarely, rarely give a 10.

Conversely, I have a friend who is much more black and white about choices. If he likes it, he gives it a 10. If he doesn\'t like it, it gets a 1. His expectation is that *everyone* is voting and therefore the ratings will even out over time. I don\'t really agree with this method; it seems pretty extreme, but I really wouldn\'t be surprised if a lot of casual browsers do this.

that is extreme

If the system is set up to drop votes that are too far off the average then most of his votes probably don\'t even count.

This site is fairly balanced in scores. I did the numbers

Scores of:

1-2. none
2-3. 110
3-4. 430
4-5. 3130
5-6. 11,290
6-7. 13,900
7-8. 10,130
8-9. 4,600
9-10. 720

That\'s almost a perfect bell curve. Obviously this croud is very kind. It likes to give out 10s much more than 1s, even more than 2s. Still, 10s are not give out obscenely. It is fairly well balanced.

I browse nearly every day, but I rarely vote. Usually only on things that really impress me. I don\'t think the pics/my monitor do the real thing justice. I\'m also kind of overwhelmed by the quantity of images on the site.

Sometimes people have to log onto the site to get to other functions like forums or the shop. So they open the window and click on another link instead of voting. You also have to factor in multiple veiws by the same people or people just looking and not wanting to vote.

I usually won\'t go lower than a 4 if it looks like some effort went into the model, but if I give lowe rthan 5 I usually try to leave a comment of oncouragement or something like that, I only give lower than 4\'s when people name their minis stuff like \"another mini\" or all capitals, and I usually leave a message there to since they put no effort. But I am not shy with giving out 10\'s since a good paint job deserves encouragement.

I often search for specific minis or vote on galleries. So the image I want to look at pops up, I vote on it and then close it. That leaves me with the same amounts of views and votes.

And barkel, nice Philhead story you have there. :D Was that your idea?

My two cents: i know it\'s utopistic but i\'d like more to see less votes but with a costructive comment than just a number gived in 5 seconds.
I\'m quite new and after an initial rush when i voted a lot of pics now i try to look at minis in a more in-dept mode.

I deny everything.

The story about Phil Collins is completely true.

If you want it to be.:innocent:

Ok, I made it up. It\'s all lies. Except the part about me buying that stupid album with \"You Can\'t Hurry Love,\" on it. My girlfriend was a big Phil Collins fan. I thought it might be worth some brownie points. Of course that doesn\'t excuse the other two of his albums I bought. And since I\'ve never done drugs I can only claim bad taste.
