Why is it that people do not leave comments?

I dont know if it is just because folks are lazy or what, but this is site is for people to show off what they have done, and get better at what they do. Comments are always welcome, or people would not post here.

I for one do not look at a submission and not leave a comment with my vote, it just seems wrong.

What do you think?

i would personally incorporate yourself more into the forum....the more you do that the more comments you get. the people who dont generally comment are ones who dont frequent the forums... put your stuff up in discuss submissions and ask for advice..... we cant help you if we dont know your wanting advice. :) im off to go comment on your stuff.... cheers

I agree with Uberdark the forum is the place to go for advice.

With so many minis to see on this site it\'s much more interesting to try to see them all rather then take the time to comment on each of them. Myself I have rated over 100,000 minis. I do comment now and then but if I had commented on all 100,000 of them I would probably not be married or have a job anymore.

Well, personally im fairly new to this aspect of the hobby and i dont think im qualified to comment on other peoples work yet. Perhaps others feel the same way.

I think its enough just taking the time to vote

I agree that not voting is wierd. It takes almost as much effort to not leave a vote as it does to leave a vote.

Comments just usually boils down to time. I use to try and leave several comments a day but now I have less time for looking at pics let alone commenting.

Put your work in the discuss submission and you\'ll see much more chatter about your work. It\'s a great place to get feedback!

And frankly some minis just don\'t stand out much when you\'re browsing. Some minis have an obvious problem that needs correcting, some are amazing and deserve props, but there\'s a lot of other ones which are incredibly average and don\'t really inspire a comment.

There was a time where I had voted on every mini on the site and commented on many of them... that was about 110,000 images ago lol

There are currently 126,771 minis on the site. Commenting on each one (approx 1 minute) for eight hours a day would take 264 days. Not sure about you, but I really just don\'t have that much spare time.

And as it was previously said, there are those that just aren\'t worth commenting. That third perspective view of Yet Another Mini painted to a solid 5? Yeah, skip. That really rather nicely painted sorcerer that\'s a solid 7? Er, I would, but the other 30 that are the same would be a bit jealous, and really, not much to say there nor the time to make the effort.

Oh, and that one mini that I really spent the time and effort to comment on, helping to point out what did or did not work for me and what I felt could be done better? Artist deleted it the next day to get a better picture in, so the comment is now gone. Only he forgot to repost it and is now chasing skirts on 6th Avenue. Maybe when he comes back around in a decade or so, he\'ll remember to post it.

Sorry, got on a bit of a rant there.

If you want REAL comments then post a couple of your pictures in the forums to get critiques. Comments on voting links are more to express how much somone may like a mini you have created. I only leave comments on minis that I REALLY like but when a mini is posted in the forums I try to provide the best constructive critiques I can.

I agree with the sentiment here, going the direction of posting on the forums if you\'re seeking some direct commentary on a piece.

Generally I\'ll comment from time to time, but it\'s at those moments when I see something that is just really top quality and impresses me, I like to leave a compliment.

When I offer other comments it\'s almost always when I see a piece that I think should be scoring much better but is being smashed in the ratings here for whatever reason. I will usually say something to cheer the person up that I think they should be getting a higher rating. Like when I see an obvious 9 getting a low 7, then I know the guy/gal who painted it is going \"what?\" so I\'ll let him/her know that they\'re not the only one thinking that.

But yeah...so many minis here, I think you sort of have to comment selectively.

I certainly hope that there is something, well, appropriate, in the mental image. I\'d hate to be leading mankind to its downfall.

I don\'t post my stuff on CMoN to get comments. If I want comments, I post it elsewhere.

Why no comments?

Do un to others as you would have them do un to you.

Comment on others, you\'ll get them back.
If not, no big deal.

Simply really.
