Virus-writers, like it or not, drive technology forward.

It\'s the global software giants you should get mad at; for taking shortcuts in the integrity of the software we pay through the nose to use.
Virus-writers are a necessary evil...incompetant-corporate-software-leeches are just plain evil.
No, not a necessarily evil, but an
inevitable evil. Software companies might have made holes in their software to support some questionable capabilities, but; in most cases, this is done with reasonable intention. Reasonable intention, yes, forethought and impact analysis? Not a chance, and that\'s where they can be burnt - failure to analyse the potential of their work.
Analogously, if I developed a drug that could kill all known germs and virii, would it ever be produced? No way! It has too much potential to kill all life on Earth - we depend on those little buggers.
It\'s easy to despise virus writers, they\'re typically a bunch of very talented individuals who misuse their abilities - a well-written virus takes creativity, imagination and good technical skill. Did I hate them though, I\'d have to hate myself too, since I wrote one many years ago. Never released, I must add. :innocent:
Just in case you think I sympathise with them, that\'s not the case at all. Selfish little bastards out for their own personal satisfaction at the costly expense of so many others.
